A seventh grade student in Katy, Texas says that her reading teacher instructed her class that God is a “myth” and that any student who says God is a “fact” or an “opinion” is wrong.
Jordan Wooley, a straight-A student at the West Memorial Junior High School–part of the Katy Independent School District (ISD)-said she and her classmates were told by their reading teacher that God is not real and that answers to the contrary would warrant their grades being docked.
According to a report in Covering Katy, Jordan and her class were administered a test on the existence of God on Monday.
“We were asked to take a poll to say whether God was fact, opinion or a myth, and she (the teacher) told anyone who said God was a fact or an opinion that they were wrong,” she said.
Jordan’s mother, Chantel Wooley, said the test accounts for about 40 percent of her daughter’s grade in the reading class. Despite this, she said her daughter was not willing to renounce her faith in God.
Wooley continued that the exercise about God did not come from a workbook, as the students do not use workbooks in this class.
According to the report, Jordan’s teacher taught several other classes that day, all of which included the same instructions about God.
At the Katy ISD school board meeting, Jordan spoke during the public comments portion and said, “Another child had asked the teacher if we could try to put what we believe on the paper, and she [the teacher] said you can if you want to get it wrong.”
“It appears the teacher was not following Katy ISD’s curriculum, because Memorial Junior High students who have a different reading teacher said God was never mentioned in their class, according to Wooley,”

Respecting an establishment of religion?
Schools cannot teach anything about Christianity, but can teach Islamic religious doctrine as a ‘part of history class’ and also can teach that God is a myth. Ah, so long down the road to perdition since God was kicked out of the classroom

As early as high school in the 70’s, I had an English lit teacher recharacterize “myth” as meaning an image, which could be true or not. Thus, she said that Elvis was a myth, meaning the persona surrounding him.
Softening us up for what would come later.
I’ve looked at other threads on this and, so far, don’t see where the teacher has been identified.
Wonder why.
The students should have started saying the Lords Prayer.
An honest person would not even claim that Allah is a myth, not given the documentation of Allah tempting Jesus for 40 days in the wilderness.
I was taught that all through public school but I never had to sign a paper proving I believed what they were preaching. This is one of many reasons we home school.
Probably some minority or a muzz.
i had a psych teacher in college tell us that if we believed in God we should leave because there was no room for it in his class,
i was 18, and slept in his class mostly after nights of drinking and/or chasing gals.
now, i would walk out.
but seventh grade!!! just wow.
No one stands up to any of the outrage since the outrage is progressing in such small, incremental steps and it seems like an over-reaction to object to individual instances of ham-handedness..
But, this is learned behaviour, theory and tactics, and is taught in public admin classes in every public college in the US.
The general public is doomed and are being led like lambs to the slaughter.
Mythology gives us shared narratives to interpret the world. Myths are not untrue. Quite the opposite, they embody truths that allow us to find meaning in our lives.
I think the context in which “myth” was used here is that what we have held as the truth is NOT true.
Then they take the children on field trips to mosques where they tell the students to recite the Shahadah which effectively makes them Muslims and makes any later profession of Christ punishable by death.
The whole point is not about G-d, but about teaching kids how to stifle free speech and open debate. They will become good little socialists of one stripe or another, but most certainly dependent on the State for everything even their every thought - see North Korea for their futures.

By threating the kids with 40% of the grade riding on the answer they select, sounds just like something odumbo and his ilk would/will do.
I trust that school board will fire that SOB teacher but alas, I have lost trust in school boards as of late.
WOW - my daughter’s teacher prays with her every morning. Of course, we home-school, so....
