Huddle House is my choice.
I encountered some of those in the Mobile area. They are about like Waffle House. Those places and other similar chains and one-offs are the heirs of the diners of the 40s and 50s. I was in one, it was a Huddle House, I think, in Florala that even had juke box terminals in the booths.
