(Newser) - A twist in the story of the South Carolina school resource officer fired after a classroom arrest turned violent - and went viral: About 100 Spring Valley High School students peacefully walked out of class Friday morning and gathered in the school's atrium to show support for former deputy Ben Fields and ask that he be given his job back. The school principal called the protest "an orderly student-led activity" and noted, "I addressed the students to let them know that we understood their need to make their voices heard. Then I reminded them that Spring Valley high is all about the business of teaching and learning, so it's time to go back to class." Within less than 10 minutes, the students peacefully went back to class, he said, per The State.

At least there are around 100 kids in South Carolina that aren’t politically correct and idiots.
My God, the condescension is rancid.
Yep. And he won’t get his job back either.
When I saw the video I noticed that all of the other kids, all black, were well behaved and sitting at their desks. They want to get an education. They were probably glad to see that little disruptive monster removed.
According to a post on FB there is more video that more or less justifies the rest of the story (which we’ve already seen). Couldn’t get it to play, too much advert.
“”They were probably glad to see that little disruptive monster removed.””
Good grief - where do you get your news? I wonder what you would have to say if that had been your son or daughter slammed to the floor and being thrown across the classroom!
A girl from that class has been on the news and she said that the student who was roughed up had been in the class for weeks and she was so quiet and shy, hardly anyone knew her. She was hardly a trouble maker. This is an account from that 2nd girl in the classroom:
“”The 16-year-old girl who was taken to the ground was arrested on a charge called “disturbing schools.” A classmate, Niya Kenny, 18, was also arrested on the same charge.
Kenny told CNN’s Don Lemon on Tuesday night the incident started when her math teacher told the other girl to give up her cell phone. The girl refused and defied orders from the teacher and an administrator to leave the classroom.
That’s when Fields was called in, Kenny said. The school resource officer asked the girl to leave the classroom with him.
Kenny said the offer moved the girl’s laptop off her desk.
“He grabbed her arm, and he put his arm around her neck at first. So that’s why you actually see her — if you get the right video — then you’ll see her trying to swing at him,” Kenny said.
“And at that point, he just flipped the desk back and grabbed her out of it and threw her. And that’s when you see her rolling across the floor.”
Kenny said she and other classmates had their cell phones recording because of the officer’s reputation.
“When he came in the classroom, I immediately told my classmates, ‘Get your phones out, get your phones out. I think this is going to go downhill.’ And it did.”
Her attorney, Simone Martin, said she’s been told “by a number of the students that he is referred to as Officer Slam as opposed to Officer Fields. And that’s telling.”
Kenny was arrested and accused of disturbing school after yelling and cursing at the officer, according to an incident report.””
Quiet and shy? ROFL!!!!
Good for these kids. That LEO did nothing wrong.
FFS, just shut up.
She flipped herself backwards, and then fell when she lost her balance trying to get away.
“I addressed the students to let them know that we understood their need to make their voices heard.”
That’s libspeak for “I feel your pain but he ain’t coming back.”
If that had been my kid she’d have gotten her ass beat when she got home. She’d also know that, and wouldn’t have gotten herself in that situation to begin with.
“”Quiet and shy? ROFL!!!!””
What do you see on the video that says otherwise? The girl speaking on TV was IN THE CLASSROOM - were you?
“”If that had been my kid sheâd have gotten her ass beat when she got home.””
Because she did WHAT?
