Medicaid doesn’t have to compete and that’s why its an attractive alternative given that the private health insurance market is closed ten months out of the year.

We are payers not receivers. Always have been. Even now that we’re both retired. Every dollar of our income is documented and we pay as many if not more taxes now as we did when we both worked.
