Air France, Lufthansa stop Sinai overflights after Russia crash

Paris (France) (AFP) - Air France and Lufthansa said Saturday they will stop flying over Egypt's Sinai peninsula after a Russian passenger plane went down in the area with the loss of all 224 people on board.

The airlines said they were taking the measure as a precaution while the cause of the Russian crash was investigated.

The Islamic State (IS) group affiliate in Egypt has said it downed the plane, without saying how, but Russia's transport minister said the claim "cannot be considered accurate" and an Egyptian security official said the plane did not crash because of an attack.

An Air France spokesperson told AFP they would not fly over Sinai until further notice, "as a precaution" while "clarification" was sought over why the Russian charter plane crashed.

Lufthansa told the German newspaper Die Welt it was taking the same measure for the same reason.

ISIS said they smuggled a missile in do the job. Since, in the year after Obola overthrew the Libiyan government, Egypt was under control of a Mudslime Brotherhood government, also installed by Obola and The Witch, it would have been easy to drive a heavy missile battery across the border for this kind of a mission. Lufthansa made the right decision.

You can bet Obama’s ba!!$ that if it turns out ISIS brought this plane down, Vlad will bomb the Mid East into a giant parking lot, while Omuslim will continue to sit on his thumb and spin.

Germany and France won’t fly over these animals but they allow them to take over their countries. There must be some logic at work here but I can’t quite grasp it.

Thank you, Hillary, for giving stinger-type missiles to terrorists.

They are saying it got to 30-35 thousand feet, then came down and tried an emergency landing where they came apart. I don’t think ISIS has weapons that go that high. Could very well be a maintenance issue. Either that or a bomb or sabotage.

The plane got to 30-35 thousand feet before coming down and attempting an emergency landing. Shoulder fired missiles don’t go that high.

Perhaps a little gun running out of Benghazi is where the missile came from. We could ask Ambassador Stevens but he is dead. We could ask the 30 odd cia operatives at the annex but we have not and will not. WHY?

Airframe failure is not unknown, but there certainly are SAMs in the area that ISIS could have that reach several times the 35K altitude.

The whole middle east is awash with weapons, small and large. If it can be carried on and fired from a truck, it can be in the Sinai. S75s and S125s litter those countries, including Libya and Egypt.
