She needs to pay that money back. That is all.
I think she needs to serve time. I’m tired of these embezzlers getting off with a slap of a wet noodle.
We had a local PTA President who gambled away several thousand dollars of organization funds. Her husband covered for her and she got off with a warning. We had a secretary of the Milwaukee Diocese (or maybe it was Jesu church, I forget which) who embezzled thousands and got off.
We had a local clerk in my Municipality who regularly pocketed the dog license fees. She got off because she was black. The long time receptionist at the beauty salon where I get my hair cut stole about $40,000 in tips and “returns” to Aveda before she was caught. She’s out on Huber. She’s supposed to pay back the money but there is no time table.
Every local municipality around here has had a clerk, or higher, convicted of embezzlement. The manager of Family Sharing (a local charity) stole thousands. The caregiver of an elderly, wealthy woman in this county stole thousands and managed to manipulate the will so that she inherited the land.
An atttorney who lived behind me stole thousands from his mother’s trust fund and his clients to fund his wife’s horse farm. He did serve time and lose his law license, but they are tougher on attorneys. Another attorney in the neighborhood (someone whose name you would know) is about to lose his law license. His daughter (also an attorney) lost hers a couple of years ago for the same offenses. (mishandling client funds). It goes on and on.
