This raises a very interesting legal point.

If parents, for their own reasons, refuse to accept the gender of their (legal) child, and force them to behave like the other gender, does it amount to child abuse?

This happens a LOT, and in past was seen as common.

So the question of abuse instead turns on whether parents forcing their children to be non-conformist, especially at an age where peer-conformity is very important to children, is abusive.

But only an interview with the parents might reveal an even darker, perhaps grotesque intention. Do they intend to persuade or coerce this girl into having a sex change at some point? Is denying her a feminine childhood, which is her right as a female, as well as using other coercive means to make her disavow her nature as she matures tantamount to torture?

At best it is misogyny. This needs to be addressed by the courts. While in many ways children are chattels of their parents, this does not extend into doing things that will cause them great and lasting harm as adults.
