Egads. "Successful in all he does" isn't even a literal translation, it's an interpretation by the "translators". The standard you cite is therefore bogus but hey, if it can be wielded like a club...
It's not that hard to look up using rudimentary tools. Strong's concordance or even a comparison of parallel translations should be enough for anyone to say "Hmmm, somethin' not precise here.. the wording is all over the map.. perhaps I should do some homework.."
On Judgment Day a lot of folks are going to be saying, "But the Bible said...". Kind of like the people who will insist that they heard the truth from CNN.
Sad, but true.
People naturally want to correct what is perceived as an error by the other party. Once a certain level of disagreement arises however, especially when you realize how far the gulf of separation is, it's best to move on.
The time spent isn't wasted, as long as it isn't allowed to descend to only shouting and name calling. Others will read the "discussion" and it will benefit their understanding, and some like yourself, add to it in ways that contribute to a better understanding by all.
When I see a "discussion" about the Bible turn into an argument, I always think of 2 Timothy 2:
"23 But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. 24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will."
Thank you for contributing. :-)
Yes, I know. I should have used my < /sarc > tag!
Hillary, on the other hand, may well be. But she doesn't have as many matching characteristics as Obama.
There is a vision from a controversial preacher way back in the '30s concerning a woman as president during a time of great devastation in America. So she has that going for her!
Likewise if now isn't the time [though I believe the hour is later than we think] and Hillary is elected, there is the possibility of O somehow ending up as leader of a worldwide Caliphate or perhaps the UN.
With Hillary as president of a declining US or a US in flames. O or whomever is head of a world dominating power will still fit right in with prophesy.
Gaming something like this, while many may see it as useless or worse, helps to better understand and learn the scriptures as you find yourself going back and rechecking what is written.
The more you work with the Bible, the more you realize what a divine work it truly is. It as satisfying to the curious as any archaeological find or scientific discovery. All are the handiwork of our creator.
I expect I'm preaching to the choir in you, but for a taste of what I've just described, for all, I recommend the following documentary recently released. It's available on Netflix, and I've even seen it in full length on Youtube:
Patterns of Evidence: Exodus - Full Trailer
It's past time for thinking people in this world today to start thinking and to share that thinking in a respectful, considerate manner, worthy of our father observing.
Thanks for taking time to clarify your comment.
God Bless.
