The Hill ^ | 11/12/15 | Kristina Wong

The United States flew two B-52 bombers over the weekend near man-made islands constructed by China in the South China Sea, a U.S. official told The Hill, in a clear challenge to China's territorial claims to the area.

The bombers made one pass within 12 nautical miles of the islands...

This action follows Obama's launch near California (LAX) of two nuclear capable SLBMs in the last week: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3358283/posts

Good.

We should park and aircraft carrier battle group 1 mile off an island for a week and perform maneuvers all around them.

Bring it, China. Their one carrier is ski-jump refuse of someone else’s navy.

I think everyone knows that if the balloon *really* goes up, it won’t be the un-stealthy BUFFs delivering the goods.

I’m not even sure if we even have nuclear capable ALCMs or Tomahawks anymore.

That was a Navy launch. Naval Strategic Services. We’ve been through that— normal shakedown of USS Kentucky after 25 year refit-nuclear refueling of reactor.

Candy butt is showing his baboon, with this idiotic use of BUFFs. They could have been shot down, and are not, except for cruise launch standoff, any kind of big deal.

But point about a pussy is they stay a pussy and try to prove they are not.

Don't count on that - a fully-stocked BUF is very difficult to defend against.

"I’m not even sure if we even have nuclear capable ALCMs or Tomahawks anymore:

We do, along with Trident, Minuteman III and nuke gravity bombs.

One mile is a violation of the territorial sea limits. 12 miles has become the recognized limit even though we subscribe to the 3 mile limit. We would certainly challenge anyone parking warships one mile off of our coast.

“Don’t count on that - a fully-stocked BUF is very difficult to defend against.”

I’m sure a lot of AF types said that before Linebacker 2, as well.

And the NVA wasted most of their SA-2s.

I got supplies. I’ll last at least three days.

Saying nuke capable is a bit meaningless
The Mk 61/b is generally believed to be carried by the following aircraft

•B-52
•B-1
•B-2B
•F-15E
•F-16
•F/A-18
• A-6 (now retired)
•AV-8A

Yes that is the AV8 HARRIER!

You mean they didn’t convert all of the B-model ALCMs? OK.

I know we still have the W-80 warheads for the Tomahawks, but again, a lot of them were changed to carry conventional warheads for the “war on terror”.

As far as gravity bombs go, the B53s are gone, the B83s are being sized up for the chopping block, and they are endlessly haggling the B61 mod12 (fusing rework and GPS guidance).

And do you really think we are *EVER* going to use a ballistic unless it is “The Big One”?

B-1 (BONE) was rendered nuke-free under provisions of the last START treaty in the mid-90s.

I don’t think we have nuke Tomahawks anymore. But we have nuke ACMs (stealthy Advanced Cruise Missles) in addition to nuke ALCMs

I think it were live ACMs that BUFF crew inadvertantly flew halfway across the country with a few years back..

They built the islands. Let them have them. Why blow up the world over an obscure point of international law, as if it really exists.

Oh no, not “meaningless” for those paying attention. The *meaning* is that Mr. Nobel Peace Prize has been escalating global tensions...while simpletons still think that Obama is “Too weak to act.”
