He's a Baptist with apparent deep intellectual roots in dominionism.

dominionism: Oh' Salon uses the .25 cent word to smear Cruz...dominionism is the far left bogie man dog whistle word...

Yet, those with differing perspectives need to remember that the mission of evangelism is to convert or assimilate, and their efforts to have a bigger say in all aspects of modern life-including government-is real, with consequences for all of us.

What possible bad consequences can occur with having a nation with more Christians ? Less abortions, less STD's, More charity, more righteousness, more blessings ?

I remembered hearing much the same from another young Republican when when I shared that Cruz and others like him want to turn America into a Christian theocracy.

Paranoia and stupidity runs deep with these leftist numb numbed idiots

The number of people who believes in hard dominionism can fit in a phone booth...

How exactly do you turn american into a christian theocracy ?

By law, by force, repeal the first amendment ?

And Obama doesn’t scare him one bit? Interesting.

Yup. If Trump stays on top the whole way and gets the nod, he’d be very wise to team up with Cruz. They’d make an unbeatable team both during the election and in the White House. Working together and with a Republican congress, they could very well start rolling back some of the unconstitutional crap and make America great again. And then Cruz would be in the catbird seat for the presidency eight years later.

Why do you always post trash from that liberal dump?

Maybe because its interesting to know what your enemy is thinking and projecting...

Libtards away show their hand by posting their strategies and sending out their talking points to their storm troopers in the MSM and social media ...

As Cruz rise in the polls, you will hear lots of stories how much of a right wing scary christian wacko he is...

Why, he even wants to turn America into a christian theocracy... !!!

I read articles from the right, the left and in the middle.

Salon never disappoints when laying bare the way the far left thinks - what they are (have been, will always be) teaching, reporting and campaigning for - it pries eyes wide open to get a real good look at what we’re fighting.

I find it interesting that you object to exposing them.

Salon doesn’t have to be excerpted and since many do not click on a link, I like to post full texts when it’s allowed.

“He’s free to practice the religion of his choice, as are the people who are likely to vote for him.”

If Christians are being forced to pay for things they morally object to, then they’re not free to practice their religion.

Whats so scary about Cruz building a Christian political base? Hell, in 2007 Obama was going around holding ‘people of color’ fund raisers in California, where white people and white reporters were denied entry.Nobody said then that Obama was doing “scary stuff,” when they damn well should have.

Good luck to Cruz and his Christian supporters. May they prevail against ALL opposition.

Whats so scary about Cruz building a Christian political base?

Consider the multiplicity of Christian sects, and ask yourself that question again.

Bush's crowd was older, mostly on the wrong side of middle-age.

It's with little digs like this that the author reveals himself as a nasty little person stuck in adolescence.

(The right side of middle age is "above ground!")

I didn’t finish reading this when he accused the Cruz supporters on not even knowing what communism is. Insulting the reader doesn’t win them over to your viewpoint.

In fact it is finely crafted bigotry and aggression against not just Christians, but against people in the Midwest.

despite the fact that American Christians are the most entitled and privileged people in the history of the planet

Once I encounter a lie I stop reading. This blatant falsehood was in the first paragraph. No need to read the rest.

Consider the multiplicity of Christian sects, and ask yourself that question again.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The more Christian sects the merrier, even if some Roman Catholic ones are assisting the refugee/illegal-immigrant demographic warfare waged against America by the Obama administration.

At least the Christians do not decapitate their rivals the way that Obama’s Muslim favorites do.

All the best to Mr. Cruz and his campaign.

Insulting the reader doesn’t win them over to your viewpoint.

I've come to believe that articles like these aren't for actually producing thoughtful reflection on a particular POV...

They are designed to send out talking points and strategies to the MSM and social media keyboard commandos to build a narrative to destroy them...

They don't care if you and I are insulted by their pablum...

"My question would be to the audience here on FR- if The Donald chose Ted Cruz as his running mate as VP would it not change the face of the VP?"

My 2 cents:
I always thought that Vice President meant someone who would qualify to be President in case something happens that he be needed. This would seem to require that the VP be presidential material, and as highly qualified. Lately it seems that in this backwards political world we have created, a President wants a VP that will assume the boot-licking stance, follow meekly, and do nothing. It would be wonderful to have a VP, for a change, who is "presidential", and active, and ready to step in if needed, and ready to carry on after the President's 2 terms are ended. Imagine if Trump had 8 years to clean up the worst of the mess, and then Cruz had 8 more years to carry through with it.

Articles in Salon, the New York Times, Mother Jones, etc. are liberals talking to liberals.

Of oourse, they don't care if they insult any conservative readers who might happen by.
