Dianne Feinstein’s Million-Acre Land Grab Falters
Breitbart ^ | November 27, 2015 | Chriss W. Street

Posted on 11/27/2015 10:08:09 AM PST by jazusamo

Three months after Breitbart News and others outed Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) 's backdoor effort to freeze development on over one million acres of California dessert by having President Obama declare the area subject to the Antiquities Act of 1906, her efforts are going down in flames as Congressional Republicans are moving to ban the Antiquities designation.

Feinstein's seven-year quest to convince "ongress to sequester over 1560 square miles of the Mojave Desert into three new national monuments under her proposed 'Desert Conservation and Recreation Act" has gone nowhere. Feinstein has argued that the area she wants designated as 'Mojave Trails, Sand to Snow and Castle Mountains' is home to mountain lions, the California desert tortoise and bighorn sheep. But the real effort is to ban off-roaders, hunters and miners.

The Senator had faced opposition from an unusual coalition of sustainable energy developers, wilderness advocates, off-road vehicle users, military bases, energy companies and American Indian tribes. By trying to circumvent Congress through artificially tying up the property with a phony search for non-existent artifacts, she has incensed Republicans and upset many Democrats, who worry about future Presidential actions.

U.S. Rep. Paul Cook (R-CA), whose district covers the area Feinstein wants restricted, complained at a Congressional hearing in September that the Antiquities Act "sets in motion a Washington-based management plan that can sharply curtail recreational and economic activities. I'm deeply concerned that outreach efforts to the public have been hasty and inadequate."

California Dessert? Is that strawberry pie prepared by an illegal immigrant or something?

Senator Diane Feinstein’s husband is Richard Blum - a real estate developer and broker. He’s made billions off government contracts. In 2011 the post office decided to sell a few historic buildings. The buyers were found they just needed someone to do the paperwork. He got the contract and charged commisions in excess of 900 million. He has also been contracted to sell decommissioned military bases. Richard Blum and his personal company (which includes DiFi) are the majority stockholders in Comcast.

In 2015, the Postal Service has decided to sell 56 more buildings and Blum was selected to do the deal, again. He should make another couple billion.

This is how politicians, like Harry Reid and others, become millionaires and billionaires.

Like vlrtually all of the Western States, the Fed Gov “owns” about 45% of California. Right next door, they “own” 85% of Nevada. These lands were the bribes these territories paid to become states. Take a look at the Eastern states, the Fed Gov owns very little land there. It’s long past time the Western States took this land back, but there will be “Cliven Bundy Challenges” from the BLM when and if efforrs are mounted to take the lands back. This is an Effed up country in so many ways!

Agreed...The Western States are the worst when it comes to the Feds, the public lands they control are slowly being closed to use.

He’s 80, she’s 82, so hopefully we won’t have either of the around much longer. Maybe they can get together with Bernie Sanders and make it a threesome.

Problem is basic. The government has grown through the whims of a few without any vision as to just what would be best. Even when we elect people who say one thing they end up following the wishes of those already in power. This unease of the populace may not be well defined or even understood by those who sense it but for sure its created the Republican presidential field we have today. Its all about special interests. Follow the money has never been more apt than in how our nation has grown.

Republicans need to plan for a “State Lands Restoration Act”, that would return the vast majority of federal land takings back to the states. Granted, there are a few “national crown jewels”, that can be kept but with very tightly fixed borders, so they can’t be used to absorb nearby state or private lands.

Along with the restoration, there needs to be very strict limits placed on the denial of use of these lands for federal prerogatives. Be it endangered species, water, pollution, whatever, the bureaucracy should no longer be able to deny the use of these lands to the individual states based on the opinions of those who don’t live there.

Returning this vast amount of land to the individual states would be a huge defeat to both the Democrats and the United Nations. By itself, it would set back one of their major agenda items by perhaps a century.
