It was one of those stunning live-TV moments revealing the seamier side of TV news. Pat Brown is a criminal profiler who has taken a principled stand on media appearances about mass murderers. She will not discuss individual criminals, their motives, etc., believing that to do so pnly increases the number of mass murders.
But when Brown appeared on CNN's New Day this morning, co-host Christi Paul immediately tried to engage her in a discussion of Colorado Springs shooter Robert Dear's possible "anti-government" views. Retorted Brown: "I'm a little disturbed because I made an agreement with CNN to appear this morning only under the condition that we do not talk about the particular shooter, use his name, or show his face." Undeterred, Paul tried to lure Brown into a discussion of the shooting investigation, but again Brown rebuffed it There the interview ended, but co-host Victor Blackwell came on to claim that the agreement had been honored because neither Dear's photo nor name had been used. Really? Have a look at the screencap, Mr. Blackwell.

Great live-TV moment in which guest rips CNN for dishonoring agreement not to discuss Colorado Springs shooter.
Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.
Don’t you love these CNN (Communist News Network) “Gotcha moments?”
First of all, who the hell would want to be interviewed by CNN in the first place...worse yet....to become part of their propaganda program?
BRAVA to her.
So this Pat chick wanted to use the event of the mass shooting to enhance her career by being a available as an “expert talking head”?
Funny where she decided to draw the line, between self promotion and not wanting to feed the ego of the nut job. Seems to me like she needs the nut jobs to get on the media.
“First of all, who the hell would want to be interviewed by CNN in the first place...worse yet....to become part of their propaganda program?””
Why? Because they are East Coast experts and there is only three place to push their expertise and the three cable news/entertainment channels only have so many positions.
I say push their expertise because, all they are doing is trying to sell columns or books or paid guest appearances.
“This...is CNN”
btt
Bunch of junior-high-schoolers in the media these days, steeped in the pretentious world of the self-appointed, brilliant, Progressive genius.
(How irritating it is to watch their arrogance and condescension.)
IMHO
She wanted to discuss the media's role in feeding mass murderer's ego thereby creating more of them.
Yep. Sure. Classic CNN. Some things never change.
So...how many here still support CNN by purchasing Cable or Satellite services???
Uh-huh.

Pat’s point is well established and has been known for literally thousands of years. One of the Ancient Wonders of the World, the Temple of Diana at Ephesus, was burned down and destroyed by a fellow named Herostratus specifically because he wanted to be famous. It was decreed at the time that the name of Herostratus would not be mentioned or recorded so that he would fade into obscurity and NOT be famous forever as he had wished. The Greek authorities did not want to encourage such actions and did not wish to reward the perpetrator.
The only reason we know Herostratus today is because some CNN-like historian decided to write the story down. And here we are, thousands of years later, talking about Herostratus.
Punish serial killers. But don’t make them into media sensations. It’s a very valid point.
Well that’s the Progressive Liberal Democrat Communist Party’s Media for you.
Just because they can say this guy had “anti-Obama” pamphlets doesn’t mean he’s a conservative, some leftist extremists have this kind of info as well.
It’s kind of the way you have anti-Israel types on both sides.
Bingo!
Good, call them out.
CNN covered up torture, abuse, and murder under Saddam Hussein to maintain their Baghdad bureau.
They aren’t about facts, they aren’t about the public’s right to know, they are about Democrat politics and ratings/advertising.
Boycott Time-Lies-Warner-Turner.
"...co-host Victor Blackwell came on to claim that the agreement had been honored because neither Dear's photo nor name had been used."
So this Pat chick wanted to use the event of the mass shooting to enhance her career by being a available as an âexpert talking headâ?...Ummm..What?
