I was 16 in 1980, and managed not to carjack anyone. Damn you, President Reagan! (sarc)

I grew up poor. Went to the “black” high school. Had an abusive father. I turned 18 in August of 1980, joined the Navy, voted for Reagan, and served my country during the whole Reagan presidency. I never even thought about carjacking people. I didn’t realize that I was supposed to turn out bad.

This punk was born in 1980 when Carter was President, and Bubba was president when he committed his crime, so naturally it would be Reagan's fault...

Did he kill the man he carjacked?

"...I think people know, really, they know if they have any intention of shooting somebody. And the gun I had was on safety, and I didn't even know how to operate the gun. And so I think that at least in my situation, I knew that I wasn't going to shoot him. And I think that if he would've not open the door or ran, I would've probably been standing in the parking lot looking like a fool. But that doesn't negate the fear that he had, and that doesn't negate the sort of lack of empathy that I showed in that moment..."

Ah. Well, that makes all the difference in the world, doesn't it? Didn't even know how to operate the gun. That would make me, as someone being carjacked, feel a lot better. Well, except for the likely fact this douchebag was probably sticking the gun in the person's eye socket while he hijacked them. Oh wait, he had the safety on. Or did he? How would he know that if he didn't know how to operate the gun?

Breathtaking, isn't it? I am receptive to people who have made mistakes, even terrible ones, if they really show non-selfish regret for what they did. You could nearly laugh at that "...sort of lack of empathy..." statement there, if it didn't expose what a self-centered piece of crap the poor, former carjacker is.

My Forgive-O-Meter is barely registering.
