AIKEN, S.C. — Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts is "disgraceful" and a "disappointment" to conservatives, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Saturday, while praising Associate Justice Clarence Thomas as his favorite member of the high court.

"Justice Roberts really let us down. What he did with Obamacare was disgraceful, and I think he did that because he wanted to be popular inside the Beltway," Trump told about 4,000 supporters.

The Donald is, depending on one’s viewpoint (1) evolving or (2) flipflopping

I put my bet on (1)

He’s the real deal and has a great tight family. Big money can be a bad mix for kids with stupid parents. Too bad all families can’t be similar to his.

Scalia, Kennedy, Breyer and Ginsberg will all be over 80 when the next President is sworn in. If Hillary gets to replace them, then a far left wing oligarch will be legislating from the bench for the next 30 years.

Where did Cruz vote for him? Roberts took his seat in 2005. Cruz was not a senator then. The vote roll call is here: http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=109&session=1&vote=00245

The Donald is making sense... in fact might be sly like fox. OK, we can’t put the plug on just Islamists? Well, then put the plug on all....

Where did Cruz vote for him?

I'm not the one that made that comment. I was questioning his statement.

Are you sure about that?

Cruz wasn't in the Senate then. He was first elected in 2012.

Cruz voted for Roberts.

*******************************************************************

Roberts had hero status around here when he was first nominated and appointed. Things change and so do people’s opinions.

Remember Carl Rove? “Rove, you magnificent bastard”! Now it’s “Rove, you bastard”!

Roberts has been on the Court since 2005. Cruz was first elected to the Senate in 2012.

Sorry, my mistake. Cruz wasn’t in the Senate yet. But he publicly SUPPORTED the Roberts nomination

I agree. Thomas is far and away the best. Scalia is sometimes not bad, but too deferential to previous bad decisions, and occasionally his decisions have the political alignment and reasoning quality of “But what if the cops don’t like it?”
