AIKEN, S.C. — Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts is "disgraceful" and a "disappointment" to conservatives, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Saturday, while praising Associate Justice Clarence Thomas as his favorite member of the high court.

"Justice Roberts really let us down. What he did with Obamacare was disgraceful, and I think he did that because he wanted to be popular inside the Beltway," Trump told about 4,000 supporters.

Indeed. Reagan was warned personally about that stare decisis low lwvwl thinker by many here is Arizona. Vigorously also I might add.

Yeah, that refrain seems to be a popular one from those of you who are intent on cutting off your noses to spite your faces-—i.e., throwing aside our best Constitutional conservative because he’s a “politician.” That mind-game makes it easy for you to justify supporting a liberal.

Dive right on off that cliff if you must, but don’t expect others to go with you.

Trump is almost seventy years old. Wisdom and courage can peak at that age. He is a mixed bag and we have to remember that the right and left diverged over the years leaving the wisdom of the early two hundred years behind. That is why we cannot stand any of them now. Trump has heart and mind and loves America.

Cruz is my favorite, but it is encouraging to here this from Trump.

Leads me to believe that he would look to Cruz for nominations for the federal courts, and especially the Supreme Court.

He said both Scalia and Alito are “terrific”.

Privately, Cruz recommended a couple of others. Cruz did not like the choice of Roberts.

However, Cruz did publicly support the nomination.

So did I. Didn't you?

That’s right and most people way younger couldn’t keep up with what he does. They’d go cuckoo. He’s supercharged. People get tired just reading his schedule.

Nice try dragqueen. Trump is a liberal. President Reagan would never support a liberal.

South40, I’m a strong Cruz supporter, but I have to tell you that Trump is no libera — far from it. You should emulate Cruz’ wisdom and recognize that Trump is a natural ally in our war against the ruling elite (including both the GOPe, the ‘RATS, the mainstream media and miscellaneous others such as cronies and the Chamber of Commerce).

Cruz wasn’t in the Senate when Roberts was nominated. However, Cruz did publicly support the nomination.

I think we all did at the time. I certainly didn’t forsee Roberts bending over backwards to protect Obamacare. IMHO, someone “got to him” somehow.

Oh, I’ll vote for the politician if he wins the nomination. But the outcome of that still remains to be seen.

Yeah, at the time Roberts was nominated, he was as strong a conservative as there was. Supporting him at the time was the right call.

I was bashed during confirmation hearings saying he wasn’t conservative as so many here fell for. I hate being right with things like this.

Uh, no he didn’t unless Cruz was impersonating a Senator back in 2005. How could he say he was wrong if he wasn’t a Senator at the time?

I’ll assume your memory is fuzzy rather than you just made up your Comment to get a dig in.

Doesn’t matter, every FReeper thought Roberts was the Man when he was appointed by Bush. Nobody here is apologizing.

Don’t know when Roberts decided he was in the Congress rather than the SCOTUS, but here we are. A Legislator in a Black Robe along with a few others...

As to your other question, what does Trump admitting a Mistake have to do with this?

Cruz voted for Roberts.

Too many republican appointees to the Supreme court look good going in but then swing to the left once confirmed.

Stevens, O'Conner, Kennedy, Souter, Roberts.....

We don't see that with the democrats.

If anything, they become even more hard line leftists after confirmation.
