OUSTON - Sylvester Turner won the Houston mayoral runoff election Saturday evening.

The polls closed at 7 p.m. Saturday after a day of bad weather worried candidates about voter turnout.

Volunteers for both candidates tailored their phone bank messages on election eve, urging voters to cast their ballots in the morning rather than waiting until the afternoon.

Although conventional political wisdom says rainy weather generally works against Democrats, this campaign has been anything but conventional.

From the lesbian to a Sheila Jackson Lee-backed Democrat.

In 2015, Turner was named one of the top 10 best members of the Texas House on LGBT issues by Equality Texas with an "A+" rating, after Turner said he had "evolved" on LGBT issues.

other articles say Democrat Turner will continue ongoing Democrat policies in Houston: second verse, same as the first.

No change at all in Houston. From a moonbat lesbian Communist to a moonbat racist Communist.

"Houston, you have a problem..."
-OR-
"Houston, WTF?!"

I know, it's a lost cause. That's one of the cool things about FR, you know what stinks everywhere. My neck of the woods bites, too,

Bill King ran a good campaign, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the stupidity of Houston voters.

Heartbreakingly close. Ugh. IIIRC the 2001 race was similarly close with Orlando Sanchez as the GOP candidate. Ugh, again.

“So Anus Porker is out?”

Term-limited, she’s in her 3rd 2-yr term.

Houston voters just changed the rules to (2) 4-yr terms, but that did not apply to the current mayor.

I have not been in Houston for years, but I have heard that the once economically vibrant Houston under Democrats is crumbling very much like Detroit.

It’s too bad a Metro Area doesn’t have a say on the Mayor of the central core. You’d have a lot fewer Democrats. 2.4 million people just in Houston City, and 6.5 million in their Metro, but 100k loons get to decide on a loser moonbat Mayor ?

Nashville wouldn’t have elected a Hillary clone fat **** Communist, anti-Christian bigot Mayor with the whole area voting.

Chicago, on the other hand... probably no difference (at least until they get rid of that non-partisan bullcrap).

I thought with the outbreaks of Domestic Terrorism, and Obama’s endorsement of Turner, that King would win this race. It was close, and would have been different if the election were held a week from today.

With all precincts in, @SylvesterTurner leads @BillKingForHou 50.95% to 49.04% in the Houston mayoral runoff. #houmayor

Impressive that a Democratic city like Houston came so close to electing a Republican mayor.

Presuming King didn’t win. I don’t trust Democrats with counting votes. They lie and they cheat.

I just read that Turner thanked the Houston portion of Fort Bend County for putting him over the top.
