The Thwaites Glacier in Antarctica is seen in this undated NASA image. Vast glaciers in West Antarctica seem to be locked in an irreversible thaw
linked to global warming that may push up sea levels for centuries, scientists said on May 12, 2014. REUTERS/NASA/Handout via Reuters

Remember that all data proves global warming and every phenomenon in the known universe can be attributed to global warming.

The moon gradually moving further from the Earth has an effect on the slowing rotation also.

Perhaps Al Gore can start a new initiative to stop man-caused Moon movement.

Here’s an alternative hypothesis: It caused by the do-nothing fat asses in Washington which has changed the weight distribution of the Earth.

So if the reverse happens, rotation should speed up.
And there’s a golden bridge in Arizona for sale, too.

Cool. Longer days mean more time to get productive things done. And more time the navel gazers to do whatever the hell turns them on. And warmer days are nice too.

That totally 180 out of phase. If the weight moves from the mountains to the ocean that would speed the rotation not slow it. He said it in the explanation if a ice skater pulls in their arms and moves the mass closer to the axis she speeds up not slows down.

Idiot.

“Because glaciers are at high latitudes, when they melt they redistribute water from these high latitudes towards lower latitudes, and like a figure skater who moves his or her arms away from their body, this acts to slow the rotation rate of the Earth,” Harvard University geophysicist Jerry Mitrovica said.”

Sounds like the guy is contradicting himself. If the water is melting and flowing closer to the center of the earth, instead of being stuck frozen far out and high up, the earth’s rotation should be speeding up. Like when a figure skater pulls her arms closer to her body during a spin, her rotation speeds up. The ice further away from the center of the earth would act like a engines governor, and without that governor, rotation speeds up.

Freaking scientifically illiterate morons have no conception of the scale of forces involved wrt the Earth’s rotation and movement in space.

Just plain stupid.
