Up until last night, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100%âs refusal to attack Donald Trump was defensible. Without question, it was smart politics, as his rise in the polls would attest. But it was also defensible on the merits as a guy who is a solid conservative in good standing, who was just refusing to criticize any of the other Republicans in the race, preferring rather to point out, like a good white knight should, how much better all the Republicans were than Hillary Clinton.
Last night, though, what the country watched was a Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% who called Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 94% a liar several times to his face, and also on more than one occasion treated him like someone who was ignorant of the issues. After the way Cruz has treated Trump throughout this contest, thatâs a major prolbem.
Prior to last night, Cruz had engaged in substantive disagreements with some of the other candidates (including Rubio), but he had always kept it on an above the fray level. Even when Trump came after him personally, he responded with a tweet that was positively fawning towards the Donald in response

The Rubio attack dogs arise. Richie Cunningham, I mean Erick Erickson, hates Trump so much that any unwillingness to attack him makes you the enemy. Cruz follows Reagan's 11th commandment better than anyone, but I guess that heresy to the ginger at Red State.

I am by no means a Cruz supporter, but Leon Wolf is an idiot.

I think I put RS on my sh!t list of quisling establishment Republicans when that name dropping fat ass Erickson called Jeb Bush his “good friend” at the last RSG. In my mind, TS is Politico for the Republicans. establishment.

Actually, he means “Rubio has a Problem” because he campaigned for Senate stating “I will never support amnesty”; and then cashed in as soon as he checked his hat at the Senate cloakroom.
Rubio CANNOT recover from that-— and that’s Wolf’s problem.

Rubio really shot himself in the foot with his stance on immigration. I think you’re going to see a lot of his support migrate to Cruz.

Cruz will be president if donald screws up,or vice president if he doesnt. Cruz cannot effectively attack Donald, his supporters would then never accrue to him. So, Cruz has set himself up to win big now, or win small now and big (2024) later.
Brilliant.

BULL !TED CRUZ: "I would note that Marco knows what he's what he's saying isn't true.
You know, Mark Levin wrote a column last week that says that the attack ads his super PAC is running that are saying the same thing, that THEY ARE KNOWINGLY FALSE,
and they are in fact Alinsky-like attacks like Barack Obama.
And the reason is simple, what he knows, is thatthe old program covered 20 to 30% of phone numbers to search for terrorists.
The new program covers nearly 100%.
That gives us GREATER ABILITY TO STOP ACTS OF TERRORISM,and he knows that that's the case."

Notwithstanding my tagline, but the question just occurred to me: between Cruz and Trump, who is Michael Corleone, and who is Hyman Roth?
Those two are playing three dimensional chess, while the rest of the field are playing Chinese Checkers, except for Linda Graham, who's playing with her Barbies.

Rubio’s essence is that he promises he will do something (or NOT do something) and then fails to fulfill the promise(s).
Cruz’ essence is that when he promises something, he actually carries out the promise. A good reputation to have, indeed.

They can't stop CRUZ.
Source:
... Cruz even indicated he would back deporting those who came here illegally -- another proposal he has usually rebuffed.
"I would enforce the law," Cruz said, explaining that he would first deport criminals without proper papers.
"Federal immigration law provides thatif someone is here illegally and is apprehended,
that they should be sent back to their home country."
Cruz has recently begun stressing that he believes the number of undocumented immigrants would decrease with strict border enforcement.
...
"The only people I'm under fire from are reporters who want to throw rocks," Cruz said in Harlan.
"Once we've demonstrated that we can solve the problem, then we can have a conversation about what to do about whatever people remain illegally."
The Rubio campaign ...
"He has attempted to muddy the waters," Cruz said on the stage. "Where there was a battle over amnesty
and some chose, like Sen. Rubio to stand with Barack Obama and Chuck Schemerand support a massive amnesty plan.
Others chose to stand with Jeff Sessions and Steve King and the American people
Let's get VERY CLEAR on TED CRUZ and Immigration:
Immigration
As the son of a Cuban immigrant, Sen. Cruz celebrates LEGAL immigration.
He has championed measuresto secure the border,
reform the LEGAL immigration system,
and uphold the rule of law.
Americans, and particularly Texans, have witnessed the harmful effects of an unsecure border, endangering the lives both of citizens and those who enter illegally.
President Obama's policies have encouraged drug smugglers, child abusers, murderers, and other dangerous criminals to traffick immigrant children into our nation under life-threatening conditions.
In the summer of 2013 we witnessed a humanitarian crisis at our Southern Border, propelled by PROMISES OF AMNESTY FROM THE WHITE HOUSE .
Immigrants deserve a better system in which they will be welcomed to the United States safely and with dignity.
As a critical step to protecting families and inviting more people to enter LEGALLY, in 2014, Sen. Cruz proposed legislation TO PREVENT OBAMA FROM ILLEGALLY EXPANDING AMNESTY .
The House acted to solve the ongoing crisis and passed bills that closely mirrored Sen. Cruzâs proposals, but regrettably the Senate DemocRATS REFUSED TO ALLOW A VOTE on the measures.
In 2013, Sen. Cruz proposed amendments to the âGang of 8â bill that wouldstrengthen border security,
expand green card opportunities,
increase high-skilled âH1Bâ visas, PREVENT ILLEGAL ALIENS FROM RECEIVING WELFARE BENEFITS ,
and enforce the rule of law.

On The Issues :
Ted Cruz on Immigration
End Obama's illegal amnesty via Congress' checks & balances
Q: How to respond to the split within your party on immigration?
What you're saying isthat the Republicans should vote to fund the governments for all departments except one:no funding for the Department of Homeland Security,
which handles immigration, rescinding President Obama's executive action,
and if he vetoes that, he's responsible for shutting down the department.
The problem isthat's almost exactly what you did with the government shutdown across the entire government in 2013 with ObamaCare,
and it backfired badly on your party.
CRUZ: All across this country, Republicans campaigned, saying: if you elect a Republican Senate, we will stop President Obama's illegal amnesty.
We need to HONOR WHAT WE SAID .
We should use the constitutional checks and balances that we have TO REIN IN THE ABUSE OF POWER OF THE EXECUTIVE.Step #1 is IF the president implements this LAWLESS AMNESTY, that THE SENATE WILL NOT CONFIRM ANY executive or judicial nominees.
Defund amnesty; and refuse any nominees until rescinded
Q: How would you rescind President Obama's executive action on immigration?
CRUZ: We should use the constitutional checks and balances that we have TO REIN IN THE ABUSE OF POWER OF THE EXECUTIVE .Step #1 that I have called for is the incoming majority leader should announce IF the president implements this LAWLESS AMNESTY, that THE SENATE WILL NOT CONFIRM ANY executive or judicial nominees, other than VITALl national security positions,
for the next two years,
UNLESS AND UNTIL the president ENDS THIS LAWLESS AMNESTY .
That is AN EXPLICIT AUTHORITY given TO the Senate.
Q: Are you saying the Senate should REFUSE TO CONFIRM the president's new nominee for attorney general?
CRUZ: We have to REIN IN the executive.
And step #2, we've got is THE POWER OF THE PURSE,and we should FUND ONE AT A TIME the CRITICAL PRIORITIES of the federal government, but ALSO USE THE POWER OF THE PURSE TO ATTACH RIDERS .
No path to citizenship for 1.65 million illegals in Texas
When discussing what to do about the 1.65 million ILLEGAL immigrants living in Texas, . . . CRUZ again saidHE DID NOT SUPPORT A PATH TO CITIZENSHIP FOR ILLEGAL immigrants living in America, . . .
Give police more power to ask about immigration status
Cruz accused Dewhurst of using his position as head of the Texas Senate to KILL A BILL last year that would have given police more power to ask anyone they detain about their citizenship status--a charge Dewhurst denied.
Both agreed that the US has FAILED TO SECURE ITS BORDER with Mexico,
and said they OPPOSE AMNESTY for ILLEGAL immigrants and the Obama administration's new directiveallowing many young illegal immigrants brought to the US as children to be exempted from deportation.
Boots on the ground, plus a wall
Border wall: James and Leppert OPPOSE A WALL,
Dewhurst and CRUZ tout "boots on the ground" AND A WALL IN SOME PLACES .
Triple the size of the Border Patrol
CRUZ on immigration: Wants to TRIPLE [the]SIZE of Border Patrol.
Says Dewhurst supported in-state tuition for kids of ILLEGAL immigrants.
Dewhurst: I have always been against an amnesty program."If they want to be a citizen, they ought to go home and reapply."
Dewhurst says he was against tuition for children of illegal immigrants.
Strengthen border security and increase enforcement
Ted Cruz has worked to STRENGTHEN BORDER SECURITY and help ensure that America remains a nation of laws.
Among other efforts, he has worked on efforts to INCREASE PENALTIES for felons WHO ENTER THE COUNTRY ILLEGALLY .
Ted authored a U.S. Supreme Court amicus brief on behalf of 10 states in Lopez v. Gonzales,ILLEGALLY .

Who the heck cares? They made themselves irrelevant years ago. They just have to beclown themselves periodically to remind us of that fact.

Rubio doesn’t need to be put in his place. Rubio needs to be body slammed into his place. He’s a liar and an opportunist. If I hear that lame commercial of his one more time I’m gonna scream...”they hate us because we let our girls go to school”.

Cruz has a real big problem from my perspective. Reviewing the Cruz interview after this yuge Trump debate win was disturbing but not surprising. With the right influence and supervision he might make a good AG. But that will be Trumps call.

Cruz annihilated Rinio. He got an astounding 23% in The poll with Rinio dogging in with 7%.
Let me tell you something very disturbing if you love and respect our constitution. It is my opinion that our most precious right is Due Process in the 14th amendment. Due process means Notice and Hearing including the right to trial by jury. It is fundamental to protection from tyranny and a basic right that we take for granted because it is so rooted. Before my eyes and ears I heard Rubio clearly and unequivocally say that if an American citizen tries to “join or assist” Isis, they would be “deemed enemy combatants” and sent to prison. ( of Course we have no WAR even declared) Do you understand the unconstitutionality of that? That is so outrageously ignorant of our constitutional 14th Amendment requirements that it tells me he is something of a dictator. One must first violate a law. Then one must be duly charged, Plead , be given a lawyer and tried under rules of evidence and procedure. Then determined guilty or not guilty by a jury - then sentenced. WE DO DO “DEEM” CITIZENS GUILTY AND SEND THEM TO PRISON MARCO!! This is similar to taking guns away by putting people on a no fly list!! To heck with the second amendment!! We just have a list!! This juvenile understanding of our rights is disturbing.
