2,009-Page, $1,205,146,000,000 Republican Spending Deal Allows Funding of Planned Parenthood

The 2,009 page fiscal 2016 spending deal that the Republican House leadership released today authorizes $1,205,146,000,000 in federal outlays between now and the end of fiscal 2016, according to the Congressional Budget Office, and it does not prohibit funding of Planned Parenthood, according to the House Appropriations Committee.

The spending bill is paired with a separate 233-page tax bill.

“We are maintaining all of our pro-life protections, including the Hyde Amendment, and we are making cuts to the UNFPA program,” House Speaker Paul Ryan said of the omnibus spending bill at a press conference today.

Planned Parenthood is the nation’s top abortion provider. In its latest annual report (2013-2014), it said that it did 327,653 abortions in fiscal 2013 (which ended on Sept. 30, 2013), and that in the year that ended on June 30, 2014, it received $528.4 million in government health services grants and reimbursements.

“Look in divided government, you don’t get everything that you want,” Ryan said at his press conference. “Republicans didn’t get all that we wanted. Democrats didn’t get all that they wanted. This is a bipartisan compromise. It is a bicameral compromise. And I understand that some people don’t like some of the aspects of this. But that is the compromise that we have. And I do believe that we will have bipartisan votes on both of these bills.”

In its analysis of H.R. 2029—“The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2016”—the CBO said that changes in law that will be made by the bill will have the net effect of increasing the federal deficit by $57.6 billion in the ten-year period from fiscal 2016 through fiscal 2025.

“Why do we even have a congress?”

Indeed. The idea of a Congress was that it act as a brake on executive excess. It hasn’t worked in the relevant past. It doesn’t work now. It gives no indication of working in the future.

No Congress Critter should vote on a bill that they have not completely read and comprehend.

It’s time to bring this sorry farce to an end.

Can you just IMAGINE if Jeb Bush was at 41% and acclaimed by all as the inevitable nominee?

Final victory for the Uniparty.

They have sent us the message loud and clear repeatedly through 8 years of Obama. They will NOT risk the democrats blaming them for shutting down the government....not even over bringing in jihadist refugees, a program opposed by an overwhelming number of Americans.

The America Protection Clause: give it a catchy name and allow Obama to veto an entire bill to get rid of it.

Do they honestly think they cannot win that fight?

But the bottom line is this: IIRC, this funds the government until Sep of 2016 right before the elections. Since republicans do not have the spine to oppose spending increases and the funding of immoral death programs, that means that the democrats want that date to make election points for Hillary.

The republicans went along with it. It is possible, they have already decided to let Hillary win.

We must locate the candidate who truly is not a covert supporter of the establishment. I think it is Trump or Cruz or both.

After the 2016 election all the spending and additional debt will have to be covered by something as in ‘revenue’ as in taxes.

Paul Ryan will talk some sort of ‘reform’ of taxation that will be a scheme to raise taxes.

IMHO.....

Excuse me, but aren’t they also funding Obama’s migrants, Obamacare, and climate change deterrants?

Second question: What is their rationale for existing?

Someone with access to these 2009 pages should scan for the words “vet, veteran, retiree, military, etc.”

If there’s anything that places a burden on the military, veterans, or retirees in it, that needs to be shouted to the halls of the Senate before this thing gets passed. Ryan hates veterans, has consistently tried to mess them over, and has always had his ears pinned back when it his latest scheme is revealed

That’s what I think, too.

I assume that a lot of them are line item expenditures, and that a lot of this same document gets submitted each year, and that they punch a formula into a spread sheet and it spits out new, higher numbers. My memory says that the government automatically asks for a 6% increase every year.

They tell us that inflation was so close to zero that seniors and retirees don’t need an increase, but they build an automatic increase for their spending each year because THEIR inflation is always at 6%.

In short, government always grows.
