Most of us in the California BayArea have long expected this type of lawsuit from the family. It’s a tragedy, but that girl has been functionally dead for the last two years.
It’s understandable the family doesn’t want to accept this.
That is their baby, their loved one.
That is absolutely FALSE.
When a person is truly "brain dead" their heart WILL NOT BEAT ON ITS OWN and their organs begin to liquefy.
Jahi McMath is severely disabled due to the hospital's errors, but she is very much alive.
“that girl has been functionally dead for the last two years.”
EVERYONE said that a brain dead body can’t survive. That the endocrine system would fail and that the body would quickly break down within a few months. It was said that it was impossible to keep someone alive who is brain dead for very long without massive medical intervention.
It is impossible for her to be brain dead with a healthy body after two years.
Doctors have confirmed that she can hear and that her brain is responding to stimuli. She is still in there.
Her body is quite healthy and she’s begun puberty. She continues to grow and develop. She’s only getting food and room air through a vent. She’s not getting hormonal support or any other medical intervention.
The doctors were wrong.
After two freaking years, it’s time to admit that mom was right.
Lee, I’m with you. It is their daughter, but I’d like to see ‘alive’ before I bought the family’s story. That’s just me.
