Democrats propose federal gun buyback
The Hill ^

Posted on 12/18/2015 8:13:03 AM PST by Red in Blue PA

Gun owners would be paid to sell their firearms to the federal government under new legislation from Democrats.

The Safer Neighborhoods Gun Buyback Act, which was reintroduced this week by Rep. Donald Payne Jr. (D-N.J.), is the latest attempt by Democrats to address gun violence. The bill has 22 co-sponsors.

"Although no one piece of legislation will eliminate all gun violence, this bill will get guns off the streets and keep them out of the hands of people who wish to cause harm,” Payne said. "If we can get one gun off the street, if we can save one life, then we have to take action.”

The voluntary gun buyback proposal resembles legislation offered by earlier this year by Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) that sought to pay gun owners to turn over assault weapons to the federal government.

If my guns are so dangerous, then they should be worth $1 Million each to take off the streets. Put your money where your mouth is.

And my AR's, even if I attempted to donate them to the Army, would never be accepted, because civilian AR's ARE NEUTERED VERSIONS OF THE REAL THING.

But let's not allow facts to enter the debate.

#factsdontmatter If you know what I mean. Of course since the plan is to use tax dollars to “buy back” these guns, do we get our pick of the litter?

They claim they will pay a 25% premium to the market price for guns. If this is the case, I will simply sell them guns, take the money to buy groceries and then use my grocery money to buy more guns. This idea will only add value to the collections of guns across America as it inflated them by 25%.

Obama is the best thing to ever happen to guns.

Just another ‘feel good’ exercise in childishness that has no effect on anything and costs the taxpayers money they could (and should) be using for their own families.

Criminals love the ‘no questions asked’ gun buybacks... They sell the guns they've stolen from peoples homes and use the money to buy better weapons... Silly buybacks are safer places to dump hot stuff than pawn brokers.

This is just like Cash for Clunkers only for guns.

But the great part is that they will be paying a 25% premium to the price of the gun. Money is fungible. The gift card they give to you (which cannot be used to purchase a gun) will simply be used to purchase groceries or other necessities. Then the money which would be spent on groceries will be spent on more guns.

Nobody ever accused gun grabbers of being bright. This is merely confirmation of that.

More LIBTARD STPIDITY

"As part of Payne's $360 million gun buyback initiative, the Justice Department would pay gun owners a premium of 25 percent more than the market value of their firearms."

Hmmmm......

Sounds like another program to boost gun sales.

Business Plan:

1 - Buy Gun
2 - Sell Gun To Uncle Stupid For a 25% Profit
3 - Repeat

Look for gun sales to rise by 25% or a close proximity thereof.
