As a Jew, I am embarrassed by this kind of Jew, who is, of course, a liberal above and beyond any Jewish considerations. Some will be surprised to know that Orthodox Judaism specifically teaches the opposite of what she did: we are supposed to be respectful and peaceful towards people of other faiths. Of course, there were, in the past biblical exceptions when those people persecuted us (eg: Chanuka, Purim stories).
Years ago I read of a Jewish version of the holiday giftgiver named “Bubbie and Zadie” (Grandma & Grandpa) who visit children’s homes on the first night of Chanukah.
I guess Talia wouldn’t be interested in that, either.
