A Florida sheriff's office on Friday released a video of a traffic stop that became violent when the driver punched a deputy before firing shots at the officer.
Indian River County Sheriff's Deputy Christopher Lester pulled over Andrew Coffee, 52, Thursday night for not having a tag on his moped, according to the sheriff's office. Image Deputy Chris Lester Deputy Chris Lester. Indian River County Sheriff's Office
Lester's dashcam camera captured the deputy requesting Coffee, who has a long, violent criminal record, to put his hand on the hood of his patrol car multiple times after warning him: "Don't go reaching for anything." In the video, Coffee briefly puts his hands on the hood, but then removes them and repeatedly asks, "what's the problem."
Without warning, Coffee socks Lester in the face.
The suspect then "drew a revolver from his waistband and fired," according to a statement from the Indian River County Sheriff's Office. Image Andrew Coffee Suspect, Andrew Coffee. Indian River County Sheriff's Office
Lester was shot in the leg, but returned fire and struck Coffee twice, the statement said. Lester is hospitalized in good condition, while Coffee is undergoing surgery, according to the statement.
Coffee was released from prison last year after serving time for charges in 1993 of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, according to NBC affiliate WPTV. His rap sheet includes 11 felony arrests and four felony convictions, the station reported.
Coffee was arrested earlier this month on drug charges, and is due to appear in court on Jan. 3, according to jail records.
Thankfully the officer survived this encounter. Thank goodness the career criminal will be going back to prison, perhaps he'll die there.
Obammy pardon
Has his age exceeded his IQ?
Too bad the officer’s return fire did not result in the coroner being called.
looks like a barber's apron ...
after having his head shaved ...
for ....
I hope this coffee gets cold and has to be thrown out.

Did I read poorly or the suspect’s name was not given?
The perp’s last name is Coffee.
That’s how they do mugshots in the South. Wrap em up in a blanket.
They do it that way to hide the clothes the guy is wearing when he is arrested, so that they can use the clothes description when witnesses come forward and describe the culprit.
Too bad the sub-human creature survived.
Now taxpayers will pay millions to defend and imprison this low-life trash.
#ThugLivesMatter
The behavior of this thug is not that of intelligent life. Something is missing. No morals. No values. No intelligence. Uncivil. Creatures like this aren’t fitting for society. Damned shame he wasn’t killed by the gunfire.
Officer Should have killed suspect for that.
Man, he hit him really hard.
That happened several decades ago.
Just because a guy’s driving a moped doesn’t mean he isn’t dangerous, just...metrosexual.
Has the attorney for Blacklivesmatter filed a lawsuit claiming that the officer shot his client for no reason?
Coffee is undergoing surgery
Hopefully they ran out of anesthetic.
1993 should have been the end of it. How many more plea bargains, "needs another chance", or "released for good behaviour" will it take to keep this thug in for life?
The DA's who "save the state money" by accepting plea bargains, the dippy judges who believe the perp rates "another chance to reform" or those on the parole boards should all be named. These people, for the most part, work in the shadows and make these mistakes (or follow an agenda) and keep releasing the sociopaths back into society - perhaps hoping some CCW or police officer will do their jobs for them. Their names should be listed each time sentence is passed.
The attorney for BLM will file suit demanding to know what the officer did to force his client o act out or some such bs.
