Bozell: It’s Time To Rally Around Ted Cruz
Breitbart ^ | 24 Dec 2015 | Brent Bozell III

Posted on 12/24/2015 12:02:36 PM PST by Isara

It is time for conservatives to rally around Sen. Ted Cruz.

By now, the reasons should be clear.

...

...Conservatives nationally are seeing that he's the one candidate who is going to return this country to her Constitutional foundations and Judeo-Christian values.

On every issue of crucial importance to conservatives-defunding Planned Parenthood, ending the Obamacare nightmare, reducing the size of government, opposing amnesty-Cruz is not only with conservatives, he's led the fight for conservatives.

...He's done it over and over, fearlessly. It's what leaders do.

...

My friend Richard Viguerie always asks an important question when it comes to a candidate claiming to be a conservative, which they all do because they cannot be elected without conservatives. Does he walk with us? Where was he or she before the campaign? Were they regulars at our meetings and conferences? Were they helping conservative candidates, organizations, causes?

Or are they conveniently "conservatives" now because they need us?

Ted Cruz has been a part of the movement since the start of his career in Texas. No other candidate - none - can say this.

...

But can he win?

There's nothing the Left would like more than to see Donald Trump win the GOP nomination. He cannot, will not defeat Hillary Clinton. She will be our next president, and God help us then.

Only Ted Cruz can defeat Trump; and if he does, he'll defeat Hillary.

The Left knows this reality too. This is why the vicious, personal attacks against Cruz are underway. He's been through this before, and all the establishment-led character assassination attempts in the past have failed. This time they will be more malicious than ever.

...

It's time for every conservative leader to stand and be counted.

It's time for the movement to rally around Ted Cruz, to make him the next president of the United States.

This is Trumps turn, he deserves it for destroying PC and the MSMs strangle hold on society, politics and culture. Ted is a young man, he will be President one day.

Trump supported TARP, auto bailout and Porkulus bill, i.e., Trump is for big government and big businesses.

And, of course, he is for Renewable Fuel Standard (ethanol mandate), so governement can pick winners and losers.

Trump's Record on Free-market Issue: (from the Conservative Review)

Trump has a terrible record on free market issues. The only bright spot is the Federal Reserve's quantitative easing, but this glimmer is countermanded by his repeated support for bailing out Wall Street and the auto industry, and increased stimulus spending. Of particular concern is Trump's belief that the government can use eminent domain powers to seize private property in the name of private economic development. This comes as no surprise, given his support for using eminent domain to profit his own company.

Trump supported the Supreme Court’s 2005 decision in Kelo v. City of London, allowing public authorities to seize private land for economic development by private investors; Trump said, “I happen to agree with [the decision] 100 percent.” (National Review)  This is no surprise given Trump’s attempt to use eminent domain in his own line of work. (Institute for Justice)

Trump supported President Obama’s 2009 stimulus, saying: “The word stimulus is probably not used in its fullest…you know, certain of the things that were given weren't really stimulus. They were pork, as we call it, or they were gifts to certain people. But overall, I think he's [President Obama] doing very well. You do need stimulus and you do have to keep the banks alive.” (CNN

Trump supported TARP, saying, "You had to do something to shore up the banks, because ... you would have had a run on every bank." (CNN

Trump supported the 2008 auto bailout, saying, “I think the government should stand behind them 100 percent. You cannot lose the auto companies. They’re great. They make wonderful products.” He also said that the federal government could “easily save the companies.” (Daily Caller

Trump criticized the Federal Reserve’s intervention in the debt market, saying quantitative easing creates “phony numbers” that mislead the marketplace and “will not ultimately benefit the economy. The dollar will go down in value and inflation will start rearing its ugly head.” (CNBC

Donald Trump has a history of using eminent domain to complete business deals. Multiple times Trump has supported the use of government agencies to take possession of homes and businesses for use in his private business plans. Eminent domain seizures are reserved only for public use of property rather than abuse by the government taking property from one individual and giving to another. (Washington Post

Donald Trump has sought and received crony capitalist tax breaks for his commercial properties in New York. These tax breaks, and even an abatement, force the property taxes of other property owners to rise at the expense of the connected. Special treatment for one business or industry over another with the tax code conflicts with free market principles. (National Review

In 2009, Trump supported Barack Obama's call for limits on the pay of executives. (CNN)

OK everyone, repeat after me:

Donald Trump has a massive lead in the polls
Cruz is in 2nd place
If the other candidates cannot beat Trump, how are they going to beat Hillary?

Trump is for closing the border and is against the unFree Trade that is destroying our economy. Hardy in the pocket of corporations and the Cheap-Labor-Express.

Time to rally around the Constitution.
Cruz is the leader for that goal but, it’s going to be a heck of a fight.

A short lesson:

TRUMP

CRUZ

BOTH ABSOLUTELY NEEDED.

There is a lot of heavy duty work to be done. It will require force.
It needs to be guided by skill and precision regarding the Constitution.

I conclude we need both tools. The issue for me is which should come first?

You can make a case for either. We need both.

Its Heidi Cruz I’d be suspicious of. Linked with Goldball Sacs and Establishment GOPe during Bush years.

Danger.

Both Constitutional foundations and Christian values would lose in a straight-up fight.

We need to copy the Left's long march.

Cruz might do what you say - if he could be elected.

Nope, Cruz sucks on immigration, is generally unlikable, talks very artificially, has a dough face, and is tied with cult-like religion.

Cruz would be destroyed in the general.
