At long last these folks are receiving compensation for their 444 days of captivity that began as an act of war against the US, that the US government has never recognized.

Why should the US taxpayers be on the hook for the Islamo Persian terrorists’ deeds?

Ddown the article is that the funds are coming from those held in escrow in France:

“Because the agreement that freed the hostages in January 1981 barred them from collecting restitution from the Iranian government, the victims spent decades unsuccessfully pursuing claims.”

“But when a US judge this year ordered France’s largest bank, BNP Paribas, to pay $8.9billion in fines to settle violations of US sanctions linked to Iran, funding for terrorism victims finally became available.”

The legislation, to my understanding, repealed the “bar to collecting restitution.”

This is stupid. I should not be paying for this. Compensation should come from Iran.

They should also give everyone a silver peanut on a display stand, to remind them of what happened.

Can’t it at least come out of the $150B we’re sending Iran?

Why not take all the frozen Iranian assets, and divvy it up equally among each hostage?

Yeah, we can’t let facts get in the way of a good rant by Freepers on Christmas Day. That quick to judgment gene doesn’t seem to be limited to just DEMs these days.
