Why would he endorse Cruz? Huckabee is a pretender and is currently running a deceitful ad attacking Cruz. He certainly won’t turn around and endorse him!

Pataki, then Huckabee. Santorum will stay in until Iowa, Fiorina until NH, and Jeb! until at least SC. Kasich is anybody’s guess.

How about Jeb? He must be about out of money, and not much is coming in.
Hard to “be in it to win it”, when there isn’t much “in it” left.

When you’re running for the same base it calls for desperate measures. When you’re not running it’s another matter. Who else would Huck endorse? Trump? Huck won’t be silent. He will endorse Cruz. Maybe not the day he drops out, but he will.

The question remains -why did he even feel the burn to be there?
That one's easy. For years everyone has been saying the GOP is the party of next in line. He could make a case for being next in line due to his 2008 performance. Same for Santorum (2012). I suspect that Huck might have run in 2012 if Palin didn't freeze the field by waiting until October to say no.
Huckabee was polling in double digits early on. He had a bold tax plan. He thought the evangelical/Iowa vote would stick with him. People around him aren't going to tell him to his face he was old news. Of the field, his entry made sense. Even now, he is plausible for a VP spot, though not a front-runner.

I don't think anyone is going to get out now until after Iowa. All the candidates pinning their hopes on Iowa like Huckabee, Carson, and Santorum are the most likely to leave after a poor showing there.
Failure in New Hampshire will be a good reason for folks like Pataki, Christie, Rand, and Fiorina to bail.

Whoever runs out of other People’s Money first.
To: BlackFemaleArmyCaptain
Not Bush. There's just too many insomniacs counting on him to stay in.
To: Genoa
No, Huck isn’t really a conservative like he’s fooled everyone into thinking. He’ll either not endorse anyone at all - or he’ll endorse Rubio or another establishment candidate.

Rand Paul. He’s going nowhere and has a Senate seat that he’s under pressure to focus on defending.
