The Donald and the Damage Done
American Spectator ^ | 12/28/2015 | David Catron

Posted on 12/28/2015 3:04:55 AM PST by rootin tootin

The left has long depicted the typical Republican as a white, racist, misogynist male with a big bank balance and a small brain. This is a caricature, of course, but the current election cycle has produced an ostensible GOP presidential candidate who personifies the parody so closely that he may as well have been constructed in a laboratory by the Democratic National Committee. Donald Trump is the cartoon Republican that Hillary Clinton and her media lackeys want to run against in 2016 and they are working hard to assure that his florid, frowning visage becomes the face of the GOP.

He has been getting more free press than all the other Republican candidates combined. Trump supporters believe this is about his skillful manipulation of the media. In reality, it is they who are being played by a press corps that is giving him 24/7 coverage to bolster his illusory lead in the national polls. But these polls tell us nothing about the state of the race. Because there’s no such thing as a national primary, they measure little more than name recognition.

To see how this plays into the hands of Hillary Clinton, who is already in general election mode, one has only to look at how her campaign responded when Trump began braying about how she got schlonged by Barack Obama in 2008.

Americans will wise up. I think it is mostly name recognition. Most voters haven’t thought about the election yet.

Proof of yet another “conservative” who has been thoroughly propagandized, manipulated and brainwashed by the left.

B/S. Thank God we finally have a non-PC candidate who is unafraid to give them the cold hard truth.

Give ‘em hell, Donald!

Silly, repetitious column, with no new facts.

BTW, no less than the bloviator himself, one Bill O'Reilly, stated on his #1 rated The Factor, that he was also clueless when it came to "the nuclear triad."

The “damage done” to the GOP brand was done by the GOP majority in congress over the last few years. I say this because the GOP brand is meaningless to the Left. To try and speak of damage to the brand and how the Left sees it is like worrying about how men prefer one brand of tampon over another.

Americans will wise up. I think it is mostly name recognition. Most voters haven't thought about the election yet.

It's quite the opposite out here where us "little folk" dwell. Mr. Trump woke up the sleeping giant before elitist backstabbers who have bought the nation were able to secure the Republican nomination for the man who denied a dying woman a drink of water. We get it that nothing is going to change until the DC elite and their paymasters are run out of DC.

Not awake because of "no name recognition"? Let's let some facts get in the way of that assumption. Jeb, Kasich, Christie, Rubio, Jindahl, and all of the other wannabees would have majorities in their home state if name recognition were the issue. Wasn't that the plan? To have them all get a majority where they were known, then throw their delegates to Jeb?

This is the first time for decades where a majority of voters thought about the election before the holidays, in time for a real challenger to emerge. We thought and we didn't like what we saw in the DC sewer.

I don't understand why you'd object to a candidate who isn't bought and paid for by special interests, one who has provided rallies and hope across the nation. The others might have some potential, but the best way is for the wannabbees to be patient for four years, show their commitment to saving the US, then run for President when a lot of the necessary reforms (and housecleaning of the political scum) has begun.

Like Monica Crowley said the last month or so on talk radio...”They don’t get it. We are done. We want to pull all this corruption up by the roots and we are in scorched earth mode now. We tried giving the majority to the GOP and they did nothing but betray us. We are done. We are trying something else now!”

The GOP has one thing to seriously ponder: What do they do if Donald Trump does NOT get the nomination.

Anybody good write for the American Spectator anymore? This is grade school stuff. I've read better vanity posts than this crap. Take for instance:

For months, Mrs. Clinton’s strategy was to hang Mr. Trump’s more outrageous pronouncements around the necks of other Republican contenders, seeking to portray the party’s entire field as extreme.” But now that he is talking about Clinton in his trademark misogynistic style, she and her campaign staff are giddy.

When for months it was the Clinton's strategy to just keep her nose above water while going unnoticed, and giddy? About as giddy as somebody watching an 800lb gorilla charging towards them.

Trump is making all those SuperGenius college-educated media types dance like marionettes.

It is to laugh.

I've never heard of this clown David Catron. I used to get American Spectator years ago.

If I had a bird cage, it might be cheaper than The New York Times...
