California has given us three new truths about government.

One, the higher that taxes rise, the worst state services become.

Two, the worse a natural disaster hits, the more the state contributes to its havoc.

And three, the more existential the problem, the more the state ignores it.

Perfect definitions of the Democrats Party.

Jerry Brown has been far worse than Obama in that he’s been governor here for a total of 16 years. Now, during the second major drought oveer which he has “presided,” there are again signs saying “If it’s Brown, flush it!”

California somehow has managed to have the fourth-highest gas taxes in the nation, yet its roads are rated 44th among the 50 states.

Roads don't vote Democrat in return for money.

For those of us old enough to know, California was once the leading state in the nation, NUMBER ONE, in just about every metric we typically use. This was forty years ago, before the idiot liberal voters gave the state away to the liberals. Yes, under a CONSERVATIVE government, it was a shining example. I remember back then when I saw a headline in the newspaper that the state legislature and the governor were fighting over how to RETURN A SURPLUS OF OVER A BILLION DOLLARS back to the people. Yes, a surplus of money. No debt. Best schools. Best roads. No HUGE problem with feeding, educating, medicating and housing ILLEGAL ALIENS. It really was once the Golden State.

Will CA drive off the cliff and crash? Or just devolve into 3rd world status?

And three, the more existential the problem, the more the state ignores it.

I believe this third assertion is incorrect (or at least imprecise) and the next paragraph proves my point. They don't ignore the problems, they respond to them, but like the parable about the drunken many looking for his keys by a lamppost ("because the light is better here") they typically attack the symptoms, not the root cause.

The roads are bad in California (just like the roads are bad in Washington) not because they aren't sufficiently funded, but because the funds are misspent and squandered on liberal feel-good crappola.

The good new is that when the ‘Big One’ hits, the parts of the state with the most liberals will be the part that sides into the sea ... and then CA will regain its collective senses.

Look at all those empty mansions in California.

The limousine liberals want to reduce the population in California. They will take helicopters and those people driving on bad roads can move to Nevada.

They just need enough poor people to take care of their mansion and kids.
