You would think an Indian, as much as any non-white, would understand how terrifying a country without whites can be. Except for the few non-white overlords they installed, their fortunes have declined considerably since whites left. While a middle class has emerged in India with jobs linked to Western clients, there are still hundreds of millions living in abject poverty, urinating in their drinking water.

My experience with friends and colleagues from India has been that they are very often politically conservative, and greatly appreciate the opportunity that American provides. Obviously, that could just be my experience. Zakaria’s father was an Indian politician and a prominent conservative Muslim. I don't know Zakaria’s specific views, but they likely don't reflect those of all from India.

I do find it interesting that a nation that has achieved and is exporting significant IT and technological expertise has such abject poverty. Our poor are not like their poor, and maybe people like Zakaria should be using their soap box to start helping the people dying in the streets of Calcutta rather than celebrating what he thinks is a self-induced form of genocide by American whites.
