“Ever hear of soil liquefaction?”

That was cited as a factor in the collapse of the Oakland freeway in the ‘89
Loma Prieta quake.

I drove over that on the lower deck in a delivery truck about an hour before it happened.

However, there is no warning for an earthquake .. none whatsoever.

But .. Tornado’s are tracked by the Weather people .. and you can usually have enough warning to get out safely.

A lot of people don’t take it seriously, and they are killed and their whole house is destroyed.

Well, neither of the faults they’ve been talking about are close enough to the ocean to be a factor.

The fault from Mexico which runs through the southern part of CA, could be the one that might trigger a major movement of earth. The last one we had from that fault was a 7.1 (several years ago), and it scared me so bad, I ran out of my apt and into the parking lot where there were no trees to fall on me. However, I neglected to take my car keys .. so if my apt had slid down the hill, I would not have been able to use my car. I have now changed that possibility.
