First of all, nothing Trump says or does can make him go down in the polls because none of that matters to his supporters. Secondly, what does it matter if the tears were real or not. I tend to think they are, but not because he's sad about people dying. I consider them like the tears of Wormtounge in LOTR when he saw Sauromon's army. All his hopes and dreams, all that he worked so hard for, was beaten and despised for, and endured years of labor for were manifest before him. His moment of triumph.
