How to fix and reformat the mess...
Click Preview and all those weird things will show up.. the “ ‘ - etc
Then just click Edit and delete and retype them..check Preview to make sure they’re gone and to find more
it takes a few minutes but they will be gone

I honestly didn’t know how to retype the German without the umlauts. I’m sorry. I hope FR can get back to how it was when it could handle the weirder symbols.
