I cannot understand hatred for T. Cruz and I cannot understand hatred for D. Trump. I would be satisfied with either.

I hear you. A lot of people forget the enemy are the democrats with Hillary and Obummer leading the charge.

Hear, hear!!!

Everybody needs to stop whining!

Vote for either in your primary, and I’ll vote for one of them in mine (leaning Trump but Cruz’ll do, too.)

Trump’s rose by bringing up issues very near and dear to all FReepers—when no others running for the Republican nomination were. Now, immigration is an important issue, and the Amnesty COC GOPe has been sent reeling.

Cruz has ALWAYS been key on the issues for us and is well respected and loved here. His filibuster against giving Obama a carte-blanche budget was spectacular, and only lost because the weak-kneed Republican Congressional leadership lost their resolve (as is typical).

We’re truly blessed to have both in this race.

I am really stunned by all the ant-Cruz Freeper vitriol.

Thanks for the reasoned support of Cruz without trashing Trump supporters.

You summed it up very well.

The anger at Trump is more the result of the feeling that he has betrayed his class by seeking the approval of the rubes in flyover country. The vitriol tossed towards Ted Cruz though indicates that his vision of a corrupt establishment that has forfeited the Mandate of Heaven. What is worse is that they know they are dealing with an honest man who believes in what he preaches, he doesn't, like many of his critics, mouth platitudes then sneer at the people who elected them.

They hate Trump because he won't give a hang about the usual GOPe K Street bottom-feeders; he'll take care of whomever he prefers. They FEAR Cruz because they know if he finds any sign of corruption he'll throw them in jail where they belong.

That’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it, I just believe you’re wrong based on A) Cruz’s conservative voting record and rhetoric, and B) the attacks by thenestablishmen like the phony baloney nbc crap continued by John McCain, David Brooks calling Cruz “Satanic”, and the list goes on..

Taking a stand is a necessary first step to getting things done, but it won’t get you all the way there. Somebody with a proven record of getting things done may be feared. Somebody with only rhetoric and a voting record (even an admirable one) doesn’t scare official Washington that much.

Some FReepers who are opposed to Trump have made Ted Cruz irritating by proxy. It's not the opposition, it's the tactics employed.

So criticize the poster rather than the candidate. Punishing Cruz for the irritating comments of complete strangers doesn't make much sense. Are you sure the only reason for trashing Cruz is the annoying behavior of some of his supporters?

I don’t understand vitriol aimed at Cruz. I’m for Trump right now but before that I’d have only voted for Cruz. Cruz is an intellectual and a gentleman. He’s not trying to denigrate his opponents.

I suspect that some of the vitriol is more a reaction to some of his supporters who believe that their own vitriol is A Good Idea and will somehow help him win. I wish both factions would knock it off.

Cruz is an intellectual and a gentleman. He’s not trying to denigrate his opponents.

If that were true he would not be using the ad hominem argument (by definition) that Trump is siding with Hillary supporters with regard to his eligibility.

What's more, as a trained lawyer, he KNOWS it's a fallacious, ad hominem, argument.

C’mon- Cruz’s suggestion that Trump is siding with Hillary just a way of fighting back. They both want to win, and Cruz can’t just let Trump run with the eligibility ploy. The only reason that Trump is suggesting that Cruz has an eligibility problem is to scare a few undecided voters in a very close race.

I'm sure someone as talented as Ted Cruz doesn't have to resort to illegitimate tactics "just to fight back."

And make no mistake: such tactics ARE illegitimate.

What makes all ad hominem attacks illegitimate? To call out Trump by identifying his comment with Hillary’s comment was sauce for the gander; the Donald was well aware that his previous connection tying Obammy to this issue would be linked to Cruz when repeated about him.
