It isn't hard because the psyches and pschos are relatively minor
I donât think Iâve ever experienced anything like this quite before. People talk about the establishment being against Reagan in 1980 but that really isnât the case. Reagan was a two-term California governor. His inner circle was very much tied into the GOP establishment. Heâd run for president in 1968 (he carried one state) and 1976. He was known. His opponent was a former member of congress, former CIA director, former UN Ambassador, former Ambassador-equivalent to China, former RNC Chairman George H. W. Bush. Of course, in 1968, 1976, and 1980, the establishment was widely trusted. Endorsements by an establishment figures gave a candidate an imprimatur of credibility.
But the establishments of both parties are metaphorically fouling their drawers as Cruz rides steady in a strong second place in national polls, especially as the establishment thinks Trump will just go away, deus ex machina style. They know those Trump voters are only going one place.
A brief tour of the waterfront.

Just what we need! Liberal psychoanalysis on conservatives. Oh wait, it’s REDSTATE doing it.
Any wonder why Erick Erickson and his homo buddies at Red State got all upset because Trump was mean to Megyn Kelly?
I am really stunned by all the ant-Cruz Freeper vitriol.
I can understand why some conservatives prefer Trump, even though his commitment to conservatism is questionable. I get the arguments in his favor: his immigration position, his war on PC, his handling of the media and other issues.
I understand supporting him because it’s arguable that he has the best shot at winning the White House (although honestly I don’t see Hillary or Bernie winning it under any circumstances).
I understand the concern that the NBC issue could cause problems. I understand being taken aback by his TPA and TPP vote. But he is still more conservative than Trump is likely to be, and he is virtually the only candidate who truly is focused on restoring our Constitutional rights and limits on the Federal government.
You don’t think he can win? OK. So vote for Trump. That may be the most pragmatic choice, and I appreciate that. But if nothing else, Cruz certainly deserves respect and appreciation.
The anti-Cruz vitriol I’m on this site is downright shocking. He is absolutely the most conservative viable presidential candidate this country has seen since 1984, and deserves much better from all Freepers.
So how does it benefit our country and the conservative movement to trash him? Frankly, I find it appalling. Cruz is one of the (very few) good guys running for office.
Anyone who is a threat to the left’s hold on power is hated. If he is the nominee the lies and knives come out.
I don’t think he can win. But he gets to try IF he is an NBC.
I don’t know if he is or is not an NBC.
I don’t like that he is claiming it is settled law. He knows it’s not.
I would like to see him as SCOTUS.
For me I was stoked when Cruz announced his candidacy. When Trump announced, I didn’t care until he started saying the things our true focus needs to be if we are to, I guess for lack of a better term, “Make America Great Again”. I don’t like Trumps personality, but I like his policies.
Some FReepers who are opposed to Trump have made Ted Cruz irritating by proxy. It’s not the opposition, it’s the tactics employed.

I couldn’t agree more. Many of the people on this site who vehemently opposed Romney are now attacking Cruz with equal vehemence and supporting Trump, whom I don’t see as any more conservative than Romney and probably less so.
Here, here!
the most Conservative gets the flack and Cruz has been getting that day one
I’m just surprised the Dems in Austin Texas didn’t try kneecap him when he Texas soliticor general. Its how they derailed Tom Delay
I don’t think it’s anti-Cruz so much as disliking some of the Cruz or Losers who have been insufferable in their denigrating both Trump and his supporters for the last six months.
Is their feeling about him an unprecedented hatred or fear? No
So far it's less than what other politicians have faced (for example George W. Bush, Dick Cheney).
Disliking somebody isn't always a psychosis or a derangement syndrome.
That may change as the race heats up, but nobody is required to love Ted Cruz and not loving him is hardly a form of madness.
I cannot understand hatred for T. Cruz and I cannot understand hatred for D. Trump. I would be satisfied with either.
That derangement syndrome is a two way street. I’m surprised by how many are blind to it.
So was I, and I was perfectly good with voting for Trump if he were to be the nominee. Of late, it’s Trump’s tactics that are pissing me off, especially his apparent alignment with McCain, McConnell, the New York Times and the Washington Post. I, for one, can’t wait to see how this week’s debate goes; it’s now a Trump/Cruz show - at least until Trump and his allies manage to destroy a very decent man.
Well stated
Posters of Redstate articles need psychoanalysis DESPERATELY!
DESPERATELY!
It’s a response to horrifically hostile and childish anti-Trump postings by self-alleged Cruz supporters.
Just what we need! Liberal psychoanalysis on conservatives. Oh wait, it's REDSTATE doing it. Any wonder why Erick Erickson and his homo buddies at Red State got all upset because Trump was mean to Megyn Kelly?
How could those crazy Cruz supporters ever hope to match your calm, reasoned analysis of the issues?
