Just what we need! Liberal psychoanalysis on conservatives. Oh wait, it’s REDSTATE doing it.

Any wonder why Erick Erickson and his homo buddies at Red State got all upset because Trump was mean to Megyn Kelly?

I am really stunned by all the ant-Cruz Freeper vitriol.

I can understand why some conservatives prefer Trump, even though his commitment to conservatism is questionable. I get the arguments in his favor: his immigration position, his war on PC, his handling of the media and other issues.

I understand supporting him because it’s arguable that he has the best shot at winning the White House (although honestly I don’t see Hillary or Bernie winning it under any circumstances).

I understand the concern that the NBC issue could cause problems. I understand being taken aback by his TPA and TPP vote. But he is still more conservative than Trump is likely to be, and he is virtually the only candidate who truly is focused on restoring our Constitutional rights and limits on the Federal government.

You don’t think he can win? OK. So vote for Trump. That may be the most pragmatic choice, and I appreciate that. But if nothing else, Cruz certainly deserves respect and appreciation.

The anti-Cruz vitriol I’m on this site is downright shocking. He is absolutely the most conservative viable presidential candidate this country has seen since 1984, and deserves much better from all Freepers.

So how does it benefit our country and the conservative movement to trash him? Frankly, I find it appalling. Cruz is one of the (very few) good guys running for office.

Anyone who is a threat to the left’s hold on power is hated. If he is the nominee the lies and knives come out.

For me I was stoked when Cruz announced his candidacy. When Trump announced, I didn’t care until he started saying the things our true focus needs to be if we are to, I guess for lack of a better term, “Make America Great Again”. I don’t like Trumps personality, but I like his policies.

Some FReepers who are opposed to Trump have made Ted Cruz irritating by proxy. It’s not the opposition, it’s the tactics employed.

Ridiculous. A lot of people don't like Ted Cruz. That's life.

Is their feeling about him an unprecedented hatred or fear? No

So far it's less than what other politicians have faced (for example George W. Bush, Dick Cheney).

Disliking somebody isn't always a psychosis or a derangement syndrome.

That may change as the race heats up, but nobody is required to love Ted Cruz and not loving him is hardly a form of madness.

Why would anyone want to support a candidate who didn’t decide he wanted to stop being a Canadian citizen until he thought he could have a successful political career in the U.S. instead of in Canada. Cruz is just political opportunist who is calling himself a conservative because he thinks it gives him a better chance to win.
