Here is a history of Trump’s party registrations:
July 1987: Republican
October 1999: Independence Party
August 2001: Democrat
September 2009: Republican
December 2011: No party affiliation (independent)
April 2012: Republican
We must also remember that President Ronald Reagan started out as a registered Democrat and New Deal supporter. He even encouraged Dwight D. Eisenhower to run for President as a Democrat in 1952. Reagan crossed over to the GOP in 1962.
Switched in 1999 to indie, then 2001 to dems... been critical of the Jeb and the Bush clan for a long time.
I know Donald was good friends with Lee Awater, maybe Donald knows something about the Bushies... Something dark and bad.
You should add that Trump was a Democrat prior to 1987.
Ronald Reagan was a 2-term Republican governor (’67-’75) of CA - became a Republican in 1962, he was divorced by his first wife because of his conservative activism, and he remained a Republican (for 42 years) until the day he died (2004).
And Ronald Reagan was a Republican activist for 20 years before being elected to his 1st presidential term.
With closed primaries in Manhattan - and generally a choice of a left-wing lunatic hizzoner-wannabee and a reasonable Democrat (Ed Koch) or business-oriented Republican - it is understandable that people switch parties in NYC over the years. I did.
Yes, and after switching to be a Republican, ran for governor of California, and then 18 years later, preseident. trump was endorsing a socialist for mayor THREE YEARS AGO. 17 years ago, trump was endorsing single-payer healthcare and a 14.25% wealth confiscation tax.
I am well aware of all that history you mentioned, not a big trump fan.
