The Koran explicitly states that a woman is worth only half a man (Suras 2: 228, 2: 282, 4:11), that women are unclean (5:6), and that a man can have sex with his wife whenever he wants (24:31). The Koran even says that men are allowed to have sex slaves (4:24), and that they have the right to rape women whom they have captured (24:31).
The hadiths, the descriptions of the life of Muhammad, the ideal human being whose example all the Islamic faithful must follow, confirm that women are sex objects, that they are inferior beings like dogs and donkeys, and that there is nothing wrong with sexual slavery and raping female prisoners.
Taharrush is quite common in Islamic countries. Women are frequently surrounded by men and subsequently abused. The Egyptian website Jadaliyya points out that it also happens to veiled women.

Women worldwide already have the God-given right to defend themselves. What they need is the knowledge and the courage to exercise that right. A knife to the groin, to the throat, or to the kidney could permanently solve the problem posed by any individual rapist. A few thousand dead rapists, or tens of thousands (I’m okay with that!), and the rest of the thugs would get a whole lot more cautious.
I’m not a democrat, so I support women. I’ll cheer every time a woman solves this problem herself. Even where guns are banned/regulated/restricted, knives are tools, and women have easy access to them.
This is a bit off topic, I know, BUT I don’t know who else to ask. It’s been said that allah is the islamic moon god - is there some source to which anyone can point? Is it anywhere in the koran or hadith or sura that mohammed took one of the pagan gods they worshiped at the time, the mood god, and called it allah?

I was surprised to discover at the bottom of the article that in the Netherlands it is illegal for women to carry pepper spray. When Geert Wilders is talking about women’s right to defend themselves, he is specifically advocating
women’s right to carry, not a firearm, but pepper spray!
Pagan words for God were ALWAYS adopted by Christians when these pagan areas were evangelized.

Names with 'el' as one of their components were common in the Near East in the second millennium BC. Linguistic cognates include ancient Semitic El, biblical Hebrew Elohim (God or/of gods), Arabic 'ilah ("a" god), Arabic Allah ("the" God) and biblical Aramaic Elah (God).
In the Mosaic period, 'el was synonymous with the Lord who delivered the Israelites from bondage in Egypt.
Muhammad was an intentional religious charlatan, a delusional paranoid schizophrenic and/or a demon-infested soul who picked up random 'religious' concepts like Velcro picks up lint. However his adoption/borrowing of the word "Allah" (long used by both neighboring Arabic-speaking pagans and Arabic-speaking Christians) is not the problem.
The Koran is a (comparatively) minor problem.
The Hadith, and Shari'a, are much bigger problems.
And, more than anything, Muhammad himself--- a wicked, bloody-handed, slave monger, demon-infested, lecherous, war lord/false prophet --- is the big, the catastrophic, fundamental root problem.

Beyond that, if we support it (anything), they will knee-jerk oppose it. But then, don't we do the same? We are loath to give credence to anything of lib origin, even if by some miracle it was practical and worked!
Thanks so much, Mrs. Don-o. The reason I’m asking is that the Catholic Church says that muslims & Christians worship the same God, which I don’t believe is true. I’ve read that mohammad took one of the 13(?) pagan gods they worshiped at that time, the moon god, to worship as their one god. If so, where can I find the source?
Quite correct, there are many all or nothing voters. To our detriment. I am not one of those. Still taken in toto I cannot vote democrat and haven’t for many years.
The APostles miraculously spoke Arabic to the Arabic-speaking Jews at Pentecost (Acts 2:11)
"[We are] both Jews and converts to Judaism, Cretans and Arabs, and yet we hear them speaking in our own tongues of the mighty acts of God."
and thus the One True God has been called Allah since Pentecost.
Muhammad identified the God he was worshiping as Allah (same as the Christian God/Allah), the Creator of all that exists, the giver of Moral Law, the God of Ibrahim, Ishaq, and Yaqub (Abraham, Isaac and Jacob), the God of Moses and of David (Musa and Dawud), the God of Mary and of Jesus (Maryam and Isa).
So clearly this is the Christian and Jewish God.
However, there are a lot of untrue things said about this God/Allah in the Koran, chief of which is that God (Allah) 'neither begets nor is he begotten': an explicit denial of the Trinity.
One could say the Jews deny the Trinity, too; but this is not made explicit in the Jewish Sacred Scriptures. The Korean makes it explicit: "Say not 'Three' --- Cease! (it is) better for you! --- Allah is only One Allah."
So this is the Christian God, culturally appropriated from the Arabic-speaking Christians, but seriously distorted.
They also believe in Isa (Jesus) but deny that He is the Son of God. Interestingly, though, they believe in His Second Coming: they believe He will come back on the Last Day to be the Judge of all mankind.
So it is the same God (since there is only one God, we all know that); but there is a mix of truth and falsehood about Him in their so-called Scriptures; there are basically erroneous things taught about Him in the Koran.
And Arabic-speaking Christians (e.g. Melkite and Assyrian Christians in the Middle East, as well as millions of Christians in Indonesia and Malaysia) still to this day use the word "Allah" for the God of the Bible. As in, "We believe in Allah, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit")
