Nikki Haley is a small petty individual selling out the republican party for some money from Wall Street and the cheap labor express.
I told my wife before her speech last night that Nikki is nothing but establishment scum. Bingo!
Not really. Not after she laid down for the NAACP race-baiters on the flag issue. Their boycott was totally unrelated to Dylann Roof's hateful and cowardly shooting of those church prayer-group members, but Haley didn't have the guts to point it out. Instead, she did what the Chamber wanted -- "quick quick, surrender quick, MAKE IT STOP it's costing us MONEEEYYYYYY!" -- and threw every white South Carolinian and Southerner under the bus. Last night she doubled down by pointing out, "me and my family, we aren't like those ugly white people, we're from India!" and threw white SC under the bus again. Same bus, too. The NAACP bloody-shirt crowd must be laughing their butts off.
The e-GOP has done it several times to conservative candidates. Nelson Rockefeller did it on prime-time television during a 1964 Cow Palace convention speech he was afforded as a courtesy by the Goldwater people. He ripped Barry's delegates as "fascists" and compared them to the roaring mobs of the Nazi spectaculars of the 1930's. Absolutely loathesome behavior by the then-governor of New York, and joined in by then-governor of Pennsylvania Bill Scranton.
Lyndon Johnson made maximum use of the ammo Rocky and Scranton had afforded him with their public repudiation of the party's nominee (the Main Street crowd being then sick of the smoke-filled-room politics of Rocky, Nixon, Ike, and others since 1952, which led directly to AuH2O's tidal wave), and he used it (and lots of unfair tactics, like using the FBI to bug Barry's campaign plane, the same tactics the WaPo lib-bigots hammered Dick Nixon over) to crush Goldwater 65-35 in the general.
So when you want to talk about loathesome behavior by the e-GOP or "Old Stalwarts" or "good-government Republicans" or WETF they're calling themselves nowadays, just remember that it is long-running, indefatigably emetic, and goes back to the 1880's. And it's all one thing that has never been fixed about this party.
....for years, over the plushness of the e-GOP's clubby rooms and clubby people .... round, plush little people with wire-rimmed glasses and thinning hair and $3000 suits.
He can have it. I caught him Wednesday afternoon, nearly threw up when I heard him crowing and mooing about how wuuuunnnderful Nikki Haley's speech was, and how terrific it was, and how it was just right for attracting moderates and blacks and Mexican-Americans and everyone they needed to replace all those sour old Tea Party and Southern Kluxer types who had brought the GOP every victory it's had since 1960, ..... and I turned him off before I could throw up on my steering wheel.
Indians view themselves as minorities and separate from the white majority which can appear pretty inaccurate with the higher caste

I do think on average the Sikhs acquit themselves better here than the average Indian but I don’t mythologize them like many freepers do

There are two conditions that immigrants should meet in order to be welcome in the US. The first is economic self-sufficiency and advancement. The second is cultural assimilation.
Unlike most other Third World immigrants, Indians do quite well on the first point: the children of indigent immigrants wind up business owners, engineers, doctors, etc (as opposed to the kids of Mexican immigrants, who often grow up to be gang members or perpetual food stamp recipients). Unfortunately, they're not much better than most other Third World immigrants when it comes to cultural assimilation. Waving around anecdotal cases like Bobby Jindal as evidence to the contrary doesn't prove much - Jindal stands out because he's the exception to the rule. I'm not convinced that Nikki Haley, with her love of multiculturalism, is an exception either.
