Actually, from what I recall, all of the Cruz people were crowing that he had “insulted” them, and that he should just give up on winning the place.
But using “true conservative” logic, I could just say that since Iowa votes for Democrats in the presidential race every 4 years, he was correct in calling them that, and that “real conservatives” knew what he was talking about.
