Thatâs what happens when media coverage of a storm becomes more important than dealing with the storm itself. Notice how every dinky weather event is now referred to as a 'storm'? We are currently experiencing a 'snowstorm' here in east Tennessee...might get an inch or two. Everything is closed.

I think part of this trend is that a snowfall is a normal weather event, while a “storm” gives state and local governments the ability to declare a state of emergency and then beg the Federal government for a disaster declaration — and money.
