So far predictions for DC are 20 to 24 inches. See link with precipitation maps. Snowmaggedon a few years ago, was a monster. A DC friend showed me one photo of almost 3 feet stacked on a patio table. That Valentines Day I helped my boyfriend dig 70 feet of 27” snow in front of his house in MD. He had broken his hip 6 weeks earlier. Many years ago I lived in downtown DC. A huge storm before 1968 with high winds left a drift in the street beside our apartment building. About 6 cars parked on either side of that street were completely invisible under the snow which lay flat from the building across the street to ours. Finally, a week later a garbage truck was able to bull its way through this drift.

On Monday the grocery stores were full of people buying for the storm. On Tuesday Home Depot was selling 40 lb. bags of Snow Melt. They had nothing lighter, and elderly people were needing help getting it into their carts. Hope they have help at home. I have warned my renters to have flashlights in case of power outage, and let me know if the power is out so I can drain the system if it is needed, or leave all faucets dripping. Good luck if you live in the east.

Well, that sucks. 27” of snow is a good bit of snow. We’ve had a quite open winter this year, not a lot of trouble at all.
