If people had the foresight to keep a few extra supplies on hand, they wouldn’t panic buy. I’m ready for weather EVERY winter.

Using a snow blower in conditions like that is simply NOT worth it.

Been there, done that.

It all blows in your face, blinds you and half of it ends up back in the driveway.

Wait until the winds are down.

Well, I’m gonna use it tomorrow (1/24) to blow out the driveway. It’s supposed to be sunny, with reasonably low wind speeds.

Just don’t over do it.

Take breaks in between bouts of clearing.

You’ll do much better with constant food and hydration.

Indeed, I picked up some gallon jugs of water yesterday, but not for extra drinking water. I was hoping they would help flush the toilet, in case the water and sewer failed.

You’re right. This work has been making me as hungry as a horse.

It’s really way more work than people generally realize.

You work your whole body, and it’s not like a gym where you’re on a machine.

You’re using all your muscles while supporting yourself instead of sitting on a machine and having it support you while you work certain muscle groups.

I always considered shoveling out the driveway and sidewalks more than equivalent to a work out and never went to the fitness center on the days I shoveled.

It’s especially hard on the back muscles and I’ve heard people say that if you haven’t grown up shoveling out you really shouldn’t try it as an adult if you’re unwilling to risk your back.

How much did you get?

I was talking to a meteorologist friend of mine and he told me there’s another storm system on tap for next weekend very similar to the one you just got.

Only it’s going to be warmer so there’s not the risk for snow. It’ll more than likely be rain.

Not that you need the potential for flooding that you can have from the combination of snow melt and rain on what is going to be saturated ground.

For those who don’t follow this stuff, that is a map of ash fields from 4 different volcanic eruptions. Three are from Yellowstone, and one is from Long Valley, CA.

Those of us who live in the general Yellowstone area- I'm actually closer to Devil's Tower and Mt Rushmore, but close enough- tend to be among those who do follow tis stuff. And, of course, Mr. Murphy's second law also applies: If it can go wrong, it will go wrong...at the worst possible time.
