At a rally in Iowa this week, Donald J. Trump explained in bold terms and broad brush strokes the many ways he would improve the United States as president: building a wall, rebuilding the military, beating China on trade. When a protester chimed in to question how the Republican would do the things that he promised, Mr. Trump decided that instead of removing the man from the audience, he would respond."You watch," the billionaire developer said flatly. His supporters cheered.
Mr. Trump has regained momentum in Iowa two weeks before the state's caucuses, and many voters cite his bravado and willingness to assail political correctness, more than his policy proposals, as the main reasons.
"I like that he's not politically correct," said Sarvinder Naberhaus, 54, of Ames. "Nowadays everybody has to have the same opinion. I love that he's being so blunt."
For Bill Brown, a 58-year-old factory worker who caucused for Mike Huckabee in 2008, Mr. Trump's tough stance on immigration is a plus, but the fact that he does not shy away from sensitive political issues is the primary appeal.
"He speaks what's on his mind," Mr. Brown said. "I'm tired of political correctness."
The term "politically correct" has become a boogeyman in the battle for the Republican presidential nomination, as candidates look to embrace the outsider mantle in a year when being "establishment" is out of style. Mr. Trump has pushed the envelope in this area with his ban on Muslim immigration and contentious comments about women and Mexicans.
While such ideas have offended some, his supporters see the fact that Mr. Trump has not backed away from his views, even when criticized, as evidence that he will fight for them.

CW’s post got zapped and in very short order. I saw yesterday that a thread got zapped as well. Nevermind that it was the attempt five or six on the quip about shooting someone.
NYT is only eight months behind in getting this news.
I posted nothing about shooting.
My first deleted post was about character and cheating at golf.
My second deleted post was a Donald Trump quote (The Art of the Deal) about how to play to “people’s fantasies” - what he calls “truthful hyperbole” and “innocent exaggeration” that is “a very effective form of promotion.”
Should he commit for only 4 years? I’m sure even his supporters will get tired of his act. Set up Cruz as vp.
Nope, it was a new thread about his quipping about gaining more points for shooting someone.
I remember it distinctly because my first thought was well isn’t this about the fifth or sixth time today on this? Knowing how quick you are to comment on duplicate threads made it poignant.
When I went to comment on it and make that point, it had already been pulled and not accepting comment.

What other comments, complaints or criticism do you have for me?
I’m always AMAZED by the number of people that say they hate political correctness, but IMMEDIATELY retreat to just that when their feelings get hurt a bit, or it doesn’t go their way. Even on this site.
You have to have a STRONG STOMACH if you’re REALLY ready to see political correctness finally end.
The chord, also called freedom of speech, is indeed harmonic with our nation. It was Stalin’s purge of undesirable speech that gave rise to the tyranny of PC. Politically Correct speech is a cornerstone of state sponsored domination. Its demise cannot come too soon.
The fundamental evil responsible for the decay of Western Civilization, including the United States, is mendacity.
In some nations it is a crime to speak the truth!
U.S. universities demand conformity rather than the free exchange of ideas, freedom of speech, and the unfettered quest for truth. Students are punished for ideas that deviate from the professors'. Speakers whose ideas are considered unorthodox are prevented from speaking or drowned out by shouts. "Speech codes" prevent freedom of speech.
Washington is a cesspool of corruption. The mainstream news media is nothing more than the propaganda machine for corrupt Washington. The basic evil beneath all this corruption is mendacity.
People are disgusted with the contempt for Truth that prevails in the decadent abscesses of a sick society. It's part of the moral rot that destroys civilizations.
And millions of Americans are determined that America will not be destroyed by internal moral rot and the stupidity and corruption of those who would destroy her!
The will NOT allow America to be destroyed without one hell of a fight!
