This is Ted Cruz's Plan For the Supreme Court
Fortune ^ | December 2, 2015 | Ben Geier

Liberals won't like it.

If Ted Cruz is elected president, he has big plans for the Supreme Court -- namely, picking extremely conservative candidates to fill any vacancies among the nine justices.

In an interview with Bloomberg, the Senator and former solicitor general from Texas said that Republicans are generally bad at picking nominees for the high court, and that he'd be different.

"Unlike many of the other candidates, I will be willing to spend the capital to ensure that every Supreme Court nominee that I put on the court is a principled judicial conservative," Cruz said.

As solicitor general, Bloomberg notes, Cruz argued in front of the court on behalf of his state.

Cruz specifically called out Chief Justice John Roberts, appointed by George W. Bush, and Anthony Kennedy, appointed by Ronald Reagan, as bad picks. Roberts has gotten a lot of flack among conservatives in recent years for voting to uphold Obamacare, while Kennedy was castigated by the right for writing the opinion this year to legalize gay marriage.

The next president will likely have a few vacancies to fill. Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Antonin Scalia, and Anthony Kennedy will all be over 80 years old by election day, while Stephen Breyer will be 78.

So how would Cruz find truly conservative justices? He said he'd look for candidates with "a long paper trail as principled conservative jurists." This means jurists who've actually made decisions, rather than the sometimes more politically palatable candidates without as much of a record.

So your’re saying you don’t have any evidence...?

BTW, in what state was Trump’s mother born?

Trump is the biggest globalist of them all....! Why do you think he voted for and gave tens of thousands of dollars to people like Reid, Pelosi, Clinton, and McCain?

BTW the communist party of America was also big supports of and continue to be big supporters of Reid, Pelosi and Clinton. Not that that would really bother you....!

Well.. From all I know, Roberts was Conservative, there are rumors he was blackmailed.

There is very good reason to believe that regardless of the media's skillful smothering of the story, John Roberts is being blackmailed to make certain Obamacare never falls in a Supreme Court case. The basis of this charge surrounds the fact that a series of strange (and probably felonious) acts are attached to the adoption of his two children.

In 2005, when they thought they were doing the Democrats' bidding, the New York Times dug into apparently easily accessible records and found that the children Roberts and his wife adopted in "South America" started life as Irish citizens. This is a red flag. The laws of Ireland regarding adoptions are very clear: adoptions by non-citizens are prohibited, as are private adoptions.

Apparently, when the Democrats realized they could control a Supreme Court Justice's vote through blackmail over his having committed a number of international crimes, the Times pulled back and dropped its investigation. The Democrat paper of record pulled back because it didn't want to " break the seal of an adoption case" - as if violating laws ever means anything to Democrats in their quest for power. Keep in mind Barack Obama's violation of his opponents' "sealed" divorce records propelled him to a US Senate seat.

I have no idea if true, but with all of the corruption in our government at this point , I wouldn't be surprised.

John Glover Roberts Jr. is the 17th and current Chief Justice of the United States. He took his seat on September 29, 2005, I have no idea if he took his seat before or after this alledged adoption.

You are right of course but having wandered in the desert and having found my way back I realized that I made better decisions when I understood my place with God and that I'm personally not the end all and be all. Ultimately there is someone other than myself I answer to.

I don't know if that's what the original poster meant or not but for me I want someone that understands that they answer to God.

And I will point of that the son of a Cuban, born in Canada to an American mother is not what the founders would have thought of as a natural born citizen of the USA.

In fact until 1934 Ted Cruz would not have even been considered a citizen of the USA. A natural born citizen requires no laws to make them a citizen they just are. Cruz citizenship depents on naturalization act passed by Congress. He was naturalized at birth via Congressional legislation. He is NOT a natural born citizen if we follow original intent.

Now if the constitution is a "living document" then yeah "what ever". However not going by original intent is what gave us abortion on demand, same sex marriage and the IRS. So you might want to rethink that living document argument you are making.

We don't know for sure who Trump will pick, but we know he holds in very high regard the approach to the Constitution of ultra-leftist Lawrence Tribe, who Trump keeps quoting so favorably on the subject.

Cruz is quite honest. Brutally honest in fact.

How was he to know John Roberts would vote with the liberals, especially that he would be possibly blackmailed.

Ted Cruz 2016...the only TEA PARTY CONSERVATIVE in the race!!!

Unfortunately, it looks like the TEA Party wasn't as conservative as we once thought. We all knew a large contingency thought this way....

But we kind of overlooked this as the TEA party was a strong force for winning elections. But now it seems that Boarder security, albeit a top issue and federal law requiring it be built enforced immediately, seems to "Trump" all issues.

It also seems that all are economic problems are caused by China, Mexico, well the whole dam world and are stupid politician that negotiate deals. But nothing to due with big government, over regulation, too much debt sucking capital out of the economy, and big Union cronyism.

And let's not forget big business cronyism when government picks winners and losers. It seems that is OK with ethanol subsidies, eminent domain abuse and threating companies operating in other countries.

I see you conveniently left out that Cruz’s mother was born in America which makes her a natural born citizen.

But let not worry about truth and details huh?

Not O'Connor or Souter? Really? Scalia, Thomas, and Alito are the only decent Republican picks.

Weasel Roberts would still be a better pick than Trump’s sister. Who’s liberal bent is well known. Roberts’s was known by none.

All the candidates have gone through “mind changes” on illegals. There is no candidate who’s been consistent on the issue.

Work with what we have.

Are you saying Trump is a fraud...?

Trumps’ sister is 78 years old. She is not going to be appointed to the court by Trump. Anyway this article is about what great judges Cruz says he would appoint. Well back in the day Cruz thought John Roberts was a great judge, how did that work out for the country? Just sayin.

To defend Cruz, let me say that Roberts in fact DID have a very conservative record, before he went to the Supreme Court. Roberts changed, not Cruz.

But Trump’s most-quoted “constitutional expert” has a long paper trail of being very very liberal. I am speaking of Lawrence Tribe of Harvard, mentor of Obama, Sotomayor and Elena Kagan.

>>See my tagline. God does not lie.

No he doesn’t. But proof texts often do.

The full verse of Ps 33:12 is

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!”

God chooses those whom he chooses. If we want a Pastor-in-Chief, then we have ask what Gods plan is for us as a nation. When he unleashed punishment on Israel, he didn’t send them a Godly Leader to save them. He waited until the people, individually and then collectively, prayed for forgiveness and rescue. Perhaps he sent Trump to keep us from thinking that a President Cruz would be our “designated prayer” who would “lead us back to God” (which isn’t really “back” since this nation has never been a theocracy). Cruz has become an idol to many of his supporters.

Trump’s mother was born in Scotland

So what, she moved here and became a US citizen.

Both of Trump parents were citizens of the USA when Trump was born in the USA. Born on soil, to citizen parents. Trump is by any definition a natural born citizen of the USA.
