The suspended University of Missouri assistant professor who was charged with misdemeanor assault stemming from a confrontation with two student journalists during November's campus protests reached a deal Friday with prosecutors, getting community service but no jail time or fines if she stays out of trouble for a year.
Columbia city prosecutor Steve Richey said he decided to forego pursuing the misdemeanor assault case against assistant communications professor Melissa Click, who has pledged no further illegal behavior for a year and to complete 20 hours of community service, he said in a statement.

The “community service” entails organizing rallies.
Someone needs to “get some muscle” to pay her a little visit.
This is the highly touted School of Journalism, right?
Click is ugly outside and in. GUILTY
This sounds like a diversion agreement. What that means is that if she does her community service and doesn’t get any new cases then the charges will be dismissed after a year - she gets out of it with no criminal record.
I get the feeling her idea of “community service” and my idea of “community service” are two different things. I’d have her picking up trash in a few choice neighborhoods.
No she teaches in the Communications department. The Journalism School yanked her courtesy access after she tried to get the reporter roughed up.
Her research interests center on popular culture texts and audiences, particularly texts and audiences disdained in mainstream culture. Her work in this area is guided by audience studies, theories of gender and sexuality, and media literacy. Current research projects involve 50 Shades of Grey readers, the impact of social media in fans' relationship with Lady Gaga, masculinity and male fans, messages about class and food in reality television programming, and messages about work in children's television programs.
20 hours? That’s nothing, and she’ll likely serve it at some liberal organization that she works with anyway.
If they got her for a felony, she probably wouldn’t be able to teach again. Why didn’t they go for that? Tuition payments shouldn’t support people of her ilk.
Missouri was the PC SEC school where the football players refused to play after an unverified couple of racial incidents (troublemaker school president said someone in a truck yelled at him and the Nazi poop incident).
They lost their quarterback this week when video footage showed up of him snorting a ‘white powdery’ substance.
She is was an adjunct faculty of the School of Journalism, but has resigned. She is a non tenured Assistant Professor of the Department of Communications. Next step is will the Department offer her tenure? Probably not, unless she knows how to play Quarterback.
Thanks.
Acceptable only if this is in addition to being fired.
Otherwise, total bullshit!
Click’s as guilty as sin on Sunday.
I like your post 6
Got off with 20 hours of community service, eh? She must be a real cunning linguist.
Yup. Pretty common, especially for a first-time offender with relatively minor charges.
