The one conservative media outlet that has absolutely the worst record on silly pronouncements about the correct meaning of "natural born citizen", is the idiotically named "Red State."

"Red State" has been consistently wrong about every thing they have published on the topic, including this bit of nonsense.

Trump was born in Queens New York and his mother was a US citizen, as was his father. Cruz was born in Canada and his mother was a us citizen but his dad was not a us citizen, he was from Cuba. So if Cruz is magically American based on his mother’s citizenship is he a magical Cuban citizen too?

Yes his mother was born in Scotland but became a naturalized American citizen before Donald was born and he was born here, in the USA by two American citizens.

According to Cruz in pre-presidential aspiration time...

natural born citizen = born on the soil with 2 citizen parents.

Very simple. Trump’s mother became a citizen.

Cruz fooled people over this - which is what he specialized in while at college.

Cruz is not a NBC of the United States by any known and accepted common law definition of NBC. On the other hand, according to every known and accepted definition of NBC, Trump is a NBC of the United States.

According to the common law and Canadian law, Cruz is a NBC of Canada:

That’s true, and I’m surprised nobody else has mentioned that. Except that most of the other candidates actually appear to want to be judged on their ideas and not their insults.

Granted both Trump and Cruz have one American born parent and one foreign born...

but Trump was born here...Cruz wasn’t

Meanwhile both of the parents of Rubio were not born here which is OK if they were nationalized American citizens BEFORE he was born..

but they weren’t...

They were like Bobby Jindals parents...

Bobby Jindal and Rubio have the same problem..

LoL Canned Spam, Trump’s mother was a US citizen at the time of his birth. Trump’s father was a US citizen. And Trump was born in the US of A.

You understand what that makes Donald J. Trump? NBC.

There is no comparison. Trump’s mother was -

1. A US naturalized citizen PRIOR to Trump’s birth OR conception. Naturalized in 42 and Trump born in 45, iirc.

2. A bride romanced in this country when visiting from Scotland, and NOT one seeking asylum from a 3rd world dictatorship.

Bottom line: Trump was born INSIDE the USA to parents, BOTH of whom were US citizens at the time of his birth AND conception.

As you likely know, Trumps mother was naturalized as a US citizen four years before his birth. Both parents are citizens. What Cruz suggested, threw out there, insinuated, was that a person would have to be a third generation US citizen to qualify. Not even the strictest of Constitutional “originalist” have even hinted at such a exclusion.

After the hundreds of hours of study I have done over the years I have never run across even the remotest suggestion that third generation citizenship is a requirement.

It was clumsy on Teds part.

Donald John Trump

Born June 14, 1946 in Queens, New York, NY (Jus Soli)

Parents were
Frederick Christ Trump, born October 11, 1905 in Queens, NY, died June 1999 in Queens, NY
Mary Ann MacLeod, born May 10, 1912 in SCOTLAND, died August 7, 2000 in Queens, NY. Arrived in US October 5, 1935. Naturalized as a US Citizen March 10, 1942.

Both parents were US Citizens at the time of his birth (Jus Sanguinis)

Red State reveals how ignorant they are of the law with statements like this, and so does Ted Cruz for that matter. I suspect it's deliberate, designed to confuse people who are not educated on the constitution and the natural born citizen issue.

Money Quote? More like Chump Change. That argument is easily refuted with facts:

Mary Anne Trump's naturalization card shows that she became a US citizen in 1942, four years before her son Donald was born in 1946.

Donald Trump was born in the country of two Citizen parents. He is a natural born Citizen of the United States of America.
