Financial woes may loom for some GOP candidates (Jeb to report 4Q fundraising collapse later today)

Money may be growing tight for four Republican presidential hopefuls clustered under Donald Trump and Ted Cruz - just when they're about to need it the most.

Financial reports coming out Sunday will reveal those who began the year with enough cash to put their long-range campaign plans into motion.

-snip-

The financial health of the campaigns of Christie, Kasich, Bush and Rubio is critically important because they're competing not only with each other, but with Trump, a billionaire who has vowed to spend whatever it takes to win, and Cruz, who began the year with $19 million in the bank - an amount that probably exceeds most of his rivals.

We will soon find out who the GOPe prefers—Trump or Cruz. Whichever one they want to win I’m going the opposite way.

I would add “intellectual collapse” to the pile, except he never scaled sufficient intellectual heights to call it a collapse”. In fact for the Jebster it was a matter of “dumbing up” his campaign.

It is still simply amazing to me that bunch of wealthy donors trying to buy influence thought they could palm this guy off on the American people. Forgetting common sense, no focus group I ever heard of ever gave any kind of enthusiasm for Jeb, and I mean none, ever. He had a few 13% ratings early on, I guess, and that was the top!

I suppose the same could be said for Hillary, except her wealthy supporters are criminally minded, expecting criminal quid prop quo activity, criminal bribery, and in fact she has a long track record of evading consequence for her criminality.

You have to give the Clintons some amount of credit, pulling off this very lucrative scam for so many years. Bribe one, pay the other. Suweeeet!

I think I am going with corn chips and guacamole.

Seems more appropriate for this occasion.

I think Bush has a great shot at “most $$ spent per primary vote”.

It’s a record that could stand for decades.

I don't think so, not until the money is ALL gone. He probably thinks he's best fighting as an underdog, since he clearly didn't do well as an establishment-promoted favorite. I don't think he wants the other Bushes to think he's a quitter. He will be a bitter-ender, instead.

Not to mention, where is Yeb! going to go if he quits? He has nothing to go home to. He likes the big bucks spending. A thread on FR had an article about his lavish spending of campaign funds on restaurants and hotels.

I figured he'd move back to Meh-Hee-Co.

There are quite a few things I’m more concerned about than Jeb’s lifestyle. My guess is, he’s covered.

I could also see him following in the footsteps of Bob Dole and doing electile dysfunction ads. SNL skit material, almost writes itself.
