San Francisco police officers dealing with a report of a stolen car ran the victim’s name for warrants, prompting the man to end up in the custody of federal immigration agents in what is being investigated as a possible breach of local sanctuary-city laws.

After Pedro Figueroa-Zarceno, 31, was released from jail Wednesday after two months, and after he spoke at a news conference Friday, Police Chief Greg Suhr acknowledged that the longtime city resident never should have been in the hands of immigration agents.

Federal officials said Figueroa-Zarceno was the subject of a deportation order arising from his failure to appear at an immigration hearing in San Antonio, Texas, in December 2005, and from a 2012 conviction for drunken driving.

Guilty of sneaking into our country, failure to appear for court, drunk driving, no license, no registration, no insurance, and we owe him an apology. People are wondering why Trump is popular?

If you are an illegal alien in Japan, you can call on the cops for NOTHING. If you do, they MIGHT investigate your need, but SURELY you would be deported.

You must show a Foreigner’s Identity card to rent an apt, rent a video or music disc, register a bicycle, etc. etc.

How upside down is the world when our elected officials are protecting fraudulently documented foreign criminals from our laws?

Had a friend sail around Australia. Had to post a bond at the arrival port and cashed it out at the exit port.

If non-Americans KNOW they can stay here illegally and have ALL the same legal protections as those here legally, what incentive really IS there to coming to the USA legally..?

In fact in many cases illegals have extra protections.

The idea that you can more or less declare yourself as illegal and then compel a US officer of the law to WORK FOR YOU (by investigating your claim) strikes me as amazing.

It’s like a terrorist getting on a plane, and being entitled to the meal in 1st Class.

He missed his court date. We Americans gave him a chance he told us to shove it up our @ss. And now we have to grovel and tell him we are sorry. This in a city where an illegal alien shot down a woman in cold blood just for the heck of it. And I pay taxes why?

My reply was in regard to the Japanese policies on foreigners. They have a right to protect Japan and Japanese.

People are wondering why Trump is popular?

Those capable of critical thought fully understand why he has so much support.

Is it standard police procedure to run a victim’s name for warrants?
