Legislation that would cut by half the Post-9/11 GI Bill housing allowance payments transferrable to children of troops is set for a vote Tuesday in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The language, part of the Veterans Employment, Education and Healthcare Act, only cuts the payment for children of service members using the transferred funding.

New resolution to be voted upon today: H.R.3016 - VA Provider Equity Act
Sec. 301 - Subsection (h)(3)(B) of such section is amended by inserting before the period at the end the following: , except that the amount of the monthly stipend described in subsection (c)(1)(B) or (g)(3)(A)(ii) of section 3313, as the case may be, shall be payable in an amount equal to 50 percent of the amount of such stipend that would otherwise be payable under this chapter to the individual making the transfer.
So, if you were a young marine that had served in Iraq or Afghanistan (4,500 dead, 32,000 wounded) in 2006 (during the height of U.S. military deaths),
â¦came home and got married,
â¦and then three years later in 2009 decide to have a child,
â¦decide to transfer your college benefit to that child upon birth rather than use it yourselfâ¦.
â¦per the lawâs requirement, you stay in four more years to secure the 100% of the benefit,
â¦the child become 7 years old in 2016,
â¦when this law goes into effect it cuts your education benefit in half (already secured when you signed up for four more years) to your child because child would be only eight years old even with the 180-day extension and not already being in college.
Do you see something wrong with this? Just because the soldier isnât using the benefit and may not desire to go to school, is this a reason to penalize him because he wants to send his seven year old kid to college ten years from now with the full benefit?

This is the inevitable result when a country promises more benefits than it can deliver. This is just the beginning of what’s to come.

When was the last time welfare payments were cut? I agree the government cannot keep it’s promises but it amazes me how willing congress is to cut military benefits when there is literally billions of handouts to non-producers that they dare not touch.
Military Times has an additional article...
You could pay for a lot of military benefits (education & otherwise) with this:

Obamacare Immigrants: $750 Million In Subsidies Paid To 500,000 Ineligible Immigrants (REPORT)
Wow. We’re on the same cosmic wavelength. LOL
Evidently! Great minds think alike or some such thing :-)
Today the Republican Party leaders said...
Trump and Cruz has got to go...
Folks, we need Trump and Cruz to draw a truce and TEAM UP...I have been a registered Republican for 55 years, all my voting life...today I renewed my drivers license in Pennsylvania, and was asked if I would like to change Political Party, I said NO...I want to vote in Primary, but after that I’m done with the Republican Party...I’m hoping some energetic young people start a NEW POLITICAL PARTY..(I’m too old to do that, but will gladly join a NEW party)
NEVER BEEN SO ASHAMED OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY AS I AM AT THIS TIME...THE RNC AND GOP AND THE CONGRESS CAN KISS THIS AMERICAN’S WHITE A$$.
I’m a vet and I don’t really have a problem with doing away with it for future enlistees, but we should honor the terms of previous enlistment contracts.
Yeah, it would have been nice to have had the help when my daughter was in school, but we got by. Now she’s decided to join up herself. She was sworn in last week, shipping out in April.
You’ve got to take care of all of the Parasites out there who have never done a damned thing for this country.Obama is importing more of them as we speak.
This country has cheated the veterans for 40 years,so what else is new.
This bill screws the military members who’ve served in a time of war that been ongoing for 15 straight years.
Those are definitely the people we want to start taking money from when we start balancing a budget.
We don’t want to start with IRS employees, Endowment for the Arts, Planned Parenthood, the Education Department.
I got it....let’s start with VETERANS. Let’s screw veterans.
As often stated, Paul Ryan has been screwing veterans for years...and guess what...this comes out of the HOUSE.
Can’t pay for your stupid F35, take it out of the vets hides.
When I got the GI bill, back in the seventies, there was no talk about transferring educational benefits to children, to the best of my memory.
If all those vets are for chopping the transfer of benefits to children, I will at least listen to their arguments.
“Obamacare Immigrants: $750 Million In Subsidies Paid To 500,000 Ineligible Immigrants”
Get it back from every congresspuke and bureaucrat scumbag involved.
Then make every one of them pay to send a hundred pigdog murder muzzies back where they came from.
They gave us the ability to transfer the benefit, now they want to take it away. That is a cut.
Cut it for people entering the military now. No problem with that. But once it was granted it shouldn’t be pulled back.

The anti-veteran congress of the Demo-republican party strikes again. When will Trump, Cruz and the rest speak out against these aholes?
