The seasonally-adjusted SGS Alternate Unemployment Rate reflects current unemployment reporting methodology adjusted for SGS-estimated long-term discouraged workers, who were defined out of official existence in 1994. That estimate is added to the BLS estimate of U-6 unemployment, which includes short-term discouraged workers.
The U-3 unemployment rate is the monthly headline number. The U-6 unemployment rate is the Bureau of Labor Statisticsâ (BLS) broadest unemployment measure, including short-term discouraged and other marginally-attached workers as well as those forced to work part-time because they cannot find full-time employment.
What stands out the most about the latest Shadow-Stats chart isn't the gap between the real unemployment and the government's false number, instead what's worse is the way Obama and the mainstream media parrots have been cooking the numbers to hide the fact that incomes are way down and unemployment has gotten even worse over the past year, instead pretending it's gotten much better. Americans run out of unemployment claims and just give up, scrape by on food stamps or temp work, leave the country or drop off the grid, and Obama's bean counters pretend they've all found good paying, jobs. A bunch of once successful spouses get thrown into prison when they can't pay the state's outrageous alimony or inflated child support payments, and magically they drop out of the labor-force. Someone gets hit with a six figure hospital bill and drown in debt, but no, according to Obama, they're employed and happy. Labor-force participation is at a historic bottom, but Obama and the media won't talk about it.
If there are any campaign staff members lurking around here, please take note that when your candidate addresses the American people, they need to be aware of the real numbers from Shadow-Stats, not the fantasy numbers from the Obama administration, because what Americans are truly experiencing is what's on those charts. This is one of the reasons that any support of amnesty or the h1b visa is a guarantee for electoral disaster for any candidate who supports them in any way, the real economy is a horrible mess and we simply can't handle the legal immigration levels in place let alone millions of illegals, h1b cheap labor or the TPP or other free-trade deals. The Chamber of Commerce, Bill Gates, Sheldon Adelson and Mark Zuckerberg live in their protected fantasy-lands of privilege and try to purchase candidates, with GOPe RINO traitors like Sens. McCain, Graham, Hatch, Ayotte, Kirk, Flake, Rubio, Haley, Alexander, Corker, Collins, McConnell, Hoeven and Wicker happily selling out. But even otherwise solidly conservative candidates need to be more careful not to be snowed by Obama's false numbers when putting together their stands.
Most of us on my block are still undecided and it'll be a while before we get to vote in our primary, but what we know for sure is that none of us will ever support a candidate who backs amnesty or the h1b visa. This is the one single issue that's holding back and threatening to derail the Ted Cruz campaign, it's infuriating because we all like him, respect his intelligence and agree with most of his stands, but his former support for increasing the h1b visa (basically making it unlimited) has left a deep scar of distrust, and his shift back in November on the h1b didn't go nearly far enough. It's not enough to ask for a temporary halt to the h1b or especially to tie it and legal immigration to unemployment numbers since the unemployment numbers are fudged anyway. He needs to campaign for an unconditional abolition of the h1b program and use his power as a Senator to introduce such a bill on the Senate floor. If he does this then our reservations would be better addressed and he'd massively boost his support overnight, with a strong shot at winning the nomination.
Addresses the lack of traditional job growth, and how it impacted unemployment.

I’ll trust your own workup before I trust John Williams over at Shadowstats.
Thanks...
No problem. Just call 25% the NEW NORMAL.
The rate the media agrees on in print will remain below 5% until a republican is elected.
That is the same rate as the Great Depression!
